Now if I was anywhere else i might assume that this is because all systems are running properly.
But here its more liekly that something is wrong with the mail server.

Check:
http://sysnews.ncsu.edu
There will be an entry on the initial page if a mail server is down (none are). You can find out which mail server you are associated with by logging into the sysnews page and clicking on account information. Search for IMAP server -
