probably an easy one for you guys

if my transfer pump is dying will i have reduced fuel pressure all the time or just when the tank is low? it works but i dont know what kind of pressure it has, ie i dont know if its working enough. if i want to check the fuel pressure is it worth just mounting an under the hood guage permanently?

haha also does anyone have any ideas for getting the smell of gas out of the car. smells for days after you pull that access panel

I got a question for YOU: is this a system with two pumps (one in the tank, one either on the frame rail or somewhere closer to the engine), or are you just talking about a single pump in the tank?

If a single pump is shitting the bed, it most likely will begin to cavitate at lower fuel levels, and you may well be able to hear the damn thing. You may have intermittent drops in pressure that may cause stumbling and stuttering.

If this is just a transfer pump leading to a secondary pump, then you may get intermittent fuel starvation and a possible no-start condition if it begins to cavitate. When you have fuel pressure, though, it will be normal (the secondary pump provides system pressure; the primary just feeds it, most likely with little pressure differential).
