it's a full yosh system for my gsxr. iti hooked up ok and i put in new gaskets for the exhaust i tightened everything up (bolts) and mounted the springs on the header too, everything appeared to be tight, but when i started her up there are leaks on the entry points of the header, as in the very first part of the header that combines with the engine block is leaking (no holes on header) just not hooked up right i guess.. do i need to "smash" or bang on the header onto the new seals or what.. it makes a popping sound when running like an opened up 4 cylinder.

and no. i am not riding it like this just ran it for about 1 minute.

thanks guys

Kyle

center the header on the ports as best you can, then tighten the bolts tight enough to crush the exhaust gasket o-ring things.

yeah the guy is just stopping by today, im pretty sure it just didnt shove the header on hard enough, but i dont want to risk messing things up. other than that it was still a rewarding experience doing it myself . i even had to drill out one of the bolts on the fairing bc one of the previous shops that worked on the bike stripped the screw dammit. that was fun though

I might need the pieces that mate to the cylinder head for a custom exhaust.

copper RTV from autozone on western. it should be like $4.99 a tube. also, if you can get some crush washers and longer bolts and put the crush washers on top of the manifold flange, you can just tighten until the washers are flat. they're good to use as a gauge I've found

I can't imagine an MR-2 trying to breathe out of a muffler meant for (600 or 750) cc's of displacement. I have seen an old Mini with a motorcycle muffler. The way it sounded, it may have had more than just a muffler from a motorcycle. Any update on the Yoshi exhaust?

i usually put the header up there, take a small pick and see which gaskets are the loosest, then evenly tighten both bolts on that one first, working my way out from there, if you get it in a bind before it pulls in, it wont be a tight seal. also, drilling out the mounting holes slightly will help

the gsxr 600 manifold is the same size as the header on my celica. the size of the pipes. just wider apart. so yes it can breath. remember these bitches go up to 14k and have lots of exhaust to get rid of. the yosh header on my bike now is bigger than my celicas header pipe size.
