haha, my roommate was flying in a Cessna 172 the other day, and went to land in Florala, AL. at that particular airport, they have a little restaurant, and the employees there also monitor the UNICOM calls. there's also a PA that broadcasts them outside where people sit around in rocking chairs hanging out.

well, Florala is a little country airport, but they have a fuel contract with the military or something, i think. lots of helos from Fort Rutger land there to get lunch and gas up, and when we were training in the 172s, we'd stop in from time to time, too.

anyway, my roommate set his cell phone to play "Danger Zone" one day before a flight, and on both takeoff and landing, he keyed the mic and played "Danger Zone" over the UNICOM channel.

One time before class started in Dr. Hoon Hong's MA 242 class I was setting that to my new ringer and he ran over and grabbed my phone. He then played with the antenna a bit and said that Top Gun was a good selection, then gave it back.
