i like um. i got their live dvd/cd the other day and its pretty cool. 2nd stage turbine is the best cd though. altho keeping secrets is good too.

it would be fun to be in a coheed'esque band. i'll never find the right singer though. we had a girl for awhile but her melodies werent right for it

It's alright, but it's not as good as Second Stage Turbine Blade.

i bought it last night and my initial impression is a little like, hrmm weird. i'm gonna have to listen to it for awhile i think. definately a bit more classic rockish, more guitar noodling, a lot of drum/bass rhythms/riffs. no real vocal hooks that stood out at me as being immediately catching or memorable. needs more time i think

So, what is the consensus? Worth purchasing? A friend of mine introduced me to a few of their songs from the old album. Now I'm wondering if I should purchase this CD or the new System of a Down CD. (The new Gorillaz was worth it, although the CD was not what I had expected.)

Definitely worth it.

I have the entire album on my MP3 player in the car.

Personally,I think it's a great step for them. I mean, who wants every album to be essentially the same anyway? Music is about evolving.
So if you like them to begin with,go ahead and get it.
If not,don't bother of course.
I think it's tops,best of the lot.

looking forward to making this purchase. and although i love some of the songs on 2nd stage, overally i think keeping secrets is a much more full album. 2nd stage tapers off in the end, never keeps my interest, although i never turn it off halfway.

its true that the new one has songs about claudio's writing of the story

and where can you get the comic books locally?

yeh its growing on me after a few more hours to get to know it. it continues w/ their progression technically. i dont know wtf they have that long ass acoustic song as #2 right after the intro though. they shoulda kept w/ the tradition of having a rockin ass song right after the orchestral intro. it kinda kills the intros build up i think.

but yeh its good, buy it. it also comes w/ some live CD but i havent listened to that yet

well ive been listenign to this all night on my monitors. the first time actually just sitting and listening and i must concur. this cd is growing on my fast. its really really good. there is a ton to listen for technically, its very dynamic, moody, yet it all flows well (well, except #2) and tells a (continuing) story. awesome

I love how the intro to this CD is an orchestral sounding version of the intros to Second Stage Turbine Blade and In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3.

It is also wonderfully titled

Stein, yeh and after each of those intros came a rockin ass song so thats why i was disappointed when after this CD's even cooler orchestral variation of the same intro it didnt do the same. ah well, #2 is still a good song, just seems out of place to me as #2.

redhar, yeh i'm pretty sure everyone is like WTF when they first hear them. i wasnt big on them at first either, but it grew and grew. fun times
