Ive never taken a 3rd out of a steering axle from an early model toyota. How hard is it and what do I need to do to get it out?

ok now im not a old mother fucker, so what is this 3rd and what is this early model toyota you speak of.

of course i can check google, but im hungry. so please have an answer when i come back

about 45 minutes to pull both shafts and about 15 min to get 3rd out. start will pulling brakes, hubs, wheel brearing nuts, wheel bearing, hub and rotor assy, backing plate, then pull birf and shaft. repeat on other side. then pull the front drive shaft from flange. take off nuts on 3rd. and done!

when u are putting the shafts back in the front be careful not to kill the inner seals as they are a little bit difficult to get past on the long side. other then that its not bad. the wheel bearing nuts take a screw driver and hammer if you dont have the proper size socket. tools needed are 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, and 17mm for brakes i think, hammer, flat head, wheel bearign grease to pack bearings for assy. i think thats it. i am sure i forgot something but u should get a good start with this much.

3rd is the 3rd member, which in toyota is what holds the ring and pinion

early model front would be pre 85, solid axle
