'Cause baby, I'm an anarchist, You're a spineless liberal. We marched together for the eight-hour day And held hands in the streets of Seattle, But when it came time to throw bricks Through that Starbucks window, You left me all alone. 9/21/2005 8:50:40 AM |

sometimes. however, I like it because it's a good song
this better?
All your glorious battles, what did they amount to, what did they prove? All for your pride of country, all for your sacred democracy, rival national myths. All for your rich ancestry of warmongers, you hailed as heroes. Don't believe in your jingoistic pride, that fuels your imperialistic genocide.

I just heard from a friend who went to the last show at the cradle and also to Aces Basement with me that the cradle show was nowhere near as good. Aces Basement was the last show of that longass tour they did, so maybe that had something to do with it, but they ripped at that show and I just don't expect the Cat's Cradle to be as good. 9/21/2005 2:39:42 PM |

I just got to listen to "Searching For a Former Clarity" this morning for the first time. My first impression of it was that it kindof sucks. "As The Eternal Cowboy" took a few listens to grow on me, but even the first time that I listened to it I picked out a few songs that I really got into. Opinions on the newest CD?

I have never listened to this band but it has come to my attention that they have an album entitled "Reinventing Axl Rose." I have been an AVID GnR fan for many years and would like to know what's up with the album title. Also, my sister listens to this band and pretty much all the music she likes sucks so I don't think I would dig them. 10/24/2005 7:03:21 PM |

well, its just an album title. axl needs a few hot pokers up his ass these days anyway, after taking the GnR name and ruining it with his overweight, can-sing-anymore, egotistical ass. 10/24/2005 9:37:15 PM |

The new album isn't bad, but isn't as good as some of the past. Miami and whatever track no. 5 is are good ones though. I haven't given it a really solid listen though.
That said, they are fun as shit live. 10/24/2005 9:51:01 PM |

^^^ It is a song:
We want a band that plays loud and hard every night That doesn't care how many people are counted at the door That would travel one million miles and ask for nothing more than a plate of food and a place to rest They'd strike chords that cut like a knife It would mean so much more than t-shirts or a ticket stub They'd stop at nothing short of a massacre Everyone would leave with the memory that there was no place else in the world And this was where they always belonged We would dance like no one was watching With one fist in the air Our arena just basements and bookstores across an underground America With this fire we could light Just gimme a scene where the music is free And the beer is not the life of the party There's no need to shit talk or impress 'Cause honesty and emotion are not looked down upon And every promise that's made and bragged is meant if not kept We'd do it all because we have to, not because we know why Beyond a gender, race, and class, we could find what really holds us back Let's make everybody sing That they are the beginning and ending of everything That we all are stronger than everything they taught us that we should fear

so far I like it. They've definitely "grown up," but they've grown up right.
I especially think "from her lips to god's ears" is hilarious.
Oh Condoleezza what should we do about the situation (developing) in Iran and North Korea? Condoleezza?... Democratic election under martial law. An Iraqi president out of U.S.-controlled choices. After all this death and destruction do you really think your choices advocate freedom? The President's giving a speech in Georgetown to remember the voice of a slain civil rights leader. Do you understand what the Martyr stood for? Oh Condoleezza, do you get the fucking joke? [No!] 10/25/2005 8:50:18 AM |

The first 6 or so songs alternated between new and old. Then they went to about a 2 to 1 old to new ratio. They played a lot of songs. Granted, they are pretty short songs, but they put together a good set.
The Epoxies were really good. I had only heard the song from the Rock Against Bush comp, so they were pretty new to me. I don't know if their albums can hold up to their live show, but I was impressed. That girl that sings is a fucking rock star.
