... to replace the hole that I blew in the Hooker shorties... It pulls harder now, although I don't see too much of a difference on the low end, but up around 3rd and 4th gear, there is a world of difference... I haven't had a chance to see 5th gear, and 6th gear, well, i am not dumb enough to go that fast around here...

ok, cool
maybe you should read up on exhaust design and principles
you want to have some amount of back pressure. your exhaust system works by creating a vacuum to pull the gases out of and away from the engine. if you put too large of a system on there, pipes too big, etc, you are decreasing your cars natural vacuum system, thereby reducing the speed at which EGs are removed from the system. yes, there is some benefit to running larger pipes and components, but there quickly develops an issue of diminishing returns
i can go further if you would like me to, but back pressure is a good thing, yes there are variables and yes, too much is a bad thing, but the dumbass idea of putting larger pipes (i know this isnt the complete issue being discussed here) to increase your flow, and increase HP or whatever is just plain wrong. 9/23/2005 11:08:03 AM |

No engine ever wants backpressure. Backpressure is NEVER good. Why would you ever want something that is fighting exhaust getting out and away from the engine? What you do want is exhaust gas velocity, there is a difference. 9/23/2005 11:58:49 AM |

^Not neccesarily. The f-body longtubes they make are as good as any, and they cost quite a bit less than hookers or jet hots. They even come with the same coating. 9/23/2005 12:26:16 PM |

the fact that they cost less is reason enough that they are shit they have a worse rep and therefore have to have lower prices 9/23/2005 12:35:59 PM |

remember that generally, you get what you pay for...pacesetter products will not perform or last nearly as long as other brands 9/23/2005 12:44:14 PM |
skywalkr All American 6788 Posts user info edit post |
they are headers
they are made to the same dimensions as the others and they give the same performance. i payed $250 for them and if i was going to get any better headers they would be kooks or qtp's which cost over $800. im pretty sure these will last me longer than i own my car.
for a fbody there is no reason to get anything better than pacesetter unless you wanna step it up to stainless. if you do any research on a fbody message board you will learn that that is pretty much how it goes.

they aren't the best, but whatever, they're better than the shorties that were on there before. if you want to see any real differences you'll probably need to get it on the dyno. what year is that thing anyways?? 9/23/2005 4:29:28 PM |

Pacesetter is shit. Period. Its the JC Whitney special, and there are not enough excuses to make your purchase justified. You say its the same as other brands, but then admit that if you had money you would buy the better ones. And saying they perform the same, unless you get on a dyno? Yall can't really be that stupid.9/23/2005 10:39:20 PM |

they came with the EGR hookup and were only 40 bucks cheaper than the hookers... not to mention my last set of hookers got a hole blown out of them... yeah, that is going to make me want another set. From everything I have heard, pacesetters are just as good for f-bodys. The only reason to get something more expensive would be to get jet hots because they are coated. you guys obviously don't know shit, go ask any reputable shop that works with f-bodys, the pacesetters are just fine, and yes, there is a difference between the shorties and longtubes, and it is quite noticable...
the car is a 1995

god damnit, shut the fuck up.
the pacesetter headers are NEARLY as good as any other header for the f-body.
Sure, they're not Groty's or freakin' Kooks, but damn, for the price, they flow well, look pretty darn good, and hold up very well.

Lack of hands on knowledge has clutterfucked another TWW thread.
The Pacesetter's make good power, and are cheap to boot. It might not have a Jet-Hot coating, but then again if looking clean isnt your thing it really doesn't matter. And Pacesetter might make some other things that aren't of decent quality, but their long tubes have a good rep. 10/12/2005 11:38:32 PM |

The pacesetter header on my corolla has held up fine for 2+ years. Its a 4-1 which is obviously not ideal, but my original manifold was cracked, and the pacesetter was cheaper than a factory replacement.
