okay, so i've been drinking too much after the State-Carolina game (goddamned tarheels), and I have a question for you smart garage types:

What does someone have to do to become a cool Garage dude? I mean, since I'm obviously not smart enough to know everything under the hood, what does it take?

I'm interested in getting more proficient, but how do you get there? I don't have all the tools, space, or money, but i can make the time.

That and get all gung ho about working on your shit. Read every car publication and manual you can. Go find a dilapidated, abandoned car and start ripping shit off of it.

I have factory manuals for bathroom shitting entertainment. I used to take shit apart and put it back together for fun as a child. I put my first lawnmower together from a bunch of old shit laying around when I was in 4th grade. I started driving anything anybody would let me as early as I could. That would be a farm tractor and my granddad's old '65 Ford Country Squire station wagon at age 8.

And don't forget to get yourself involved in several projects that are clearly over your head but unless completed will leave you without transportation. You'll learn damned quickly then.
