What kind of iPod? If it has the buttons accross the top, toggle the hold (so it is in the un-held position), and hold menu and play/pause at the same time, until it resets.

If it's a tiltwheel (4g+), toggle the hold, and hold the center button and play/pause (i think it's play/pause, it may be menu) until it resets.

have you tried the microwave trick? if you put it in the microwave for about a minute and a half on 30% (no more than 30%!!) it'll purge the firmware and you won't have that problem anymore

no, you dumbass. you are supposed to use the defrost option on the microwave getting the weight of the ipod off the website.

the toaster oven trick is alot faster, and you dont need to know the weight. just put it in till its a golden brown with a flakey outer crust.

having a firmware is not the problem, but keeping the iPod off the ground is.
