Another tire recommendation request. I need assistance in choosing a set of new tires for a 95 BMW 3 series with tire size: 225/50-16

I am seeking tires suitable as a daily driver and mostly highway miles. I do not plan to race/autox nor drive in snow. I suppose all-season tires? I am not experienced nor knowledgeable in how to shop for tires so please advise. Nothing too pricey, below $110/tire plz. Choosing from tirerack.com

i think im going to go w/ Falken Ziex 512s. good reviews, cheap, and a pretty decent tread life. i'm also looking at the Kumho ASX's, but i think i'm leaning toward the falkens

^^ I had those Ziex 512's on my Saab 900. For a $50 tire I was very impressed. My biggest complaint is that the sidewalls are a little soft feeling, but if you need an all-season tire to DD they aren't bad.

The main reasons I liked those Potenza RE-950's were that the wet grip was outstanding and the dry grip didn't really fade very much as they got older. They had almost as much grip at 40k as they did at 10k miles.

i just got some ziex 512's about a month ago. good tires however, i did notice a tad bit more road noise than the dunlop fm901 is previously had. it doesn't bother me though, i bought them for the really decent price and i expect them to last a little longer than the dunlops.

these are 225/50-H16 by the way. they do have the v or z rated ones for a little more. i got them off of http://www.discounttiredirect.com with free shipping.

for cheap tires my default recommendation are the Kumho Ecsta 712's - grippy, quiet enough, and should be under $100 per for that size.

they stoped making the 712 and replaced it with the asx.....you might have to do some searching to find the 712s

The Bridgestone Potenza RE-950 is a very nice choice. However, I found tires that are comparable or better than the Potenza for a better price. Thanks to all that have assisted. I have made my decision.

Do most ppl here use all-season tires? I found out I've been riding on summer tires for a while. And since i avoid driving in the snow, in the rare occasion we do get any, should I purchase another set of summer tires?

We get a lot of rain, so I'm just concerned w/ wet traction.

if you're only concern is for wet weather, get summer tires.

someone on here mentioned a tire (or manufacturer) that comes warrantied for a certain amount of miles (perhaps Bridgestone or Pirelli)

I usually buy cheapo tires but if the warranty thing is for real, then I wouldnt mind getting a more expensive tire that I can replace a few times for free. My current tires in the rear have lasted me only about 10 months (no idea about mileage but I figure 10 months is pretty damn short). No burnouts except a 5sec one at Fayetteville drag, but plenty of spirited driving.

I have the Falken Ziex 512s. Great tires for the price. Better handling, on dry and wet pavement, than my stock Potenza RE-92s. Haven't used them in the snow yet. I hope it snows a good bit this winter, want to try out my AWD (didn't snow a lick of anything last year )
