I brought an external hard drive from circuit city about two and half years ago and have recently had some problems with it. It's virtually impossible to move within subfolders into other subfolders. It constantly locks up, takes between ten and twenty minutes and then still often spits out I/O errors. Accessing files directing (through Music Match, shortcuts etc.) results in similar I/O errors.

I managed to move to most of important stuff off the drive and then reformatted it thinking that would help. It orginally was a Fat32 but I reformatted it to a NTSC (just because I had a disk right here). This got rid of everything but as I begin to put my files back on it, I encounter the same problems.

My drive is 120 gb, I believe 7200 rpm but maybe on ~5000. Is my drive just shot or do you guys have any ideas?
