If you are using RoadRunner (and a RoadRunner DNS server) they occasionally have problems and do not point to the correct IP for Google. 9/29/2005 6:39:06 PM |

don't use the roadrunner DNS servers
use the ncsu ones
Quote : | "For people who use roadrunner and have shitty dns service, you can run your own caching nameserver and send requests directly to the roots, or use someone like ncsu's dns and hardcoding these nameservers (152.1.1.206, 152.1.1.161, 152.1.1.248, 152.1.2.22)" |

might want to run ad-aware. And, yes, check your hosts file. 9/29/2005 6:47:08 PM |

^ Not knowing where your hosts file is isn't funny (it's a very valid question) ... but thinking that Google banned you is mildly humorous.
Windows XP = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC (also \WINNT depending on your setup) Windows 2K = C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC Win 98\ME = C:\WINDOWS

You just want to make sure that there is no definition for google.com, etc.

It is most likely a DNS problem. Having something wrong with the HOSTS file is somewhat rare, especially if you do not edit it or have any software that adds custom entries.
