internet access as in can you connect via wireless router or is internet thru Cingular

WAP is wireless access protocol, its just the standards that make it work
i guess its kinda like http for phones

WAP is a very simplistic browser/internet interface to get online using your mobile device. In order to get it to work you need to have a data package in addition to your voice package with your provider.

I used to have it on an older phone and it came in handy to look up a number or address and get directions while out and about.
