Anyone seen it? I'm a big Cameron Crowe fan - favorite movie is Almost Famous, plus I'm a big Petty fan who is featured heavily in the soundtrack. But the critics are giving it bad reviews. Wondered if anyone had seen it yet and what they thought?

That movie looks like fucking garbage to me. Its almost like Sweet Home Alabama but its a guy instead of a girl.

I think it looks good. But then again I'm a GIRL. Plus I'll watch any movie with a Tom Petty song on the trailer.

I think it looks like garbage as well, but who knows.

It also really annoys me when girls use their gender as an excuse for enjoying crappy movies (same goes for guys with bad action movies I suppose). It seems a bit self-degrading to me.

I ended up checking it out last night. Part of it seemed choppy, but other parts (last 20 minutes) were very good.

Soundtrack was also good, but w/ Crowe I expected that.

Based on the previews it definitely seems like a "Garden State" and since i love that movie i probably won't watch this one.

it makes sense to me.

I actually heard In Her Shoes was surprisingly good.

Not exactly on my list of movies to see, though.

agreed. either that or because Orlando Bloom can't act.

ATTN: Cameron Crowe.

Plz to stop sucking.

Browsing through the RT reviews, at least three have "fiasco" in the tagline.

The critics are raving:

"So many romantic comedies come and go without making the slightest impression. Elizabethtown is not one of them; I found it galling." - Chicago Tribune

"Rambling, schmaltzy romantic comedy. " - New York Post

"A saga of static set pieces and strenuously clever notions, this is a fiasco of a film if ever there was one. " - Wall Street Journal

"It's hard to believe the creative mind that gave us "Almost Famous," "Jerry Maguire," "Say Anything" and "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" looked up with satisfaction after typing 117 pages of this. " - Wasington Post

"Though it's no fiasco -- there's nothing mythic about its disjointed story -- it is a failure" - USA Today

"Elizabethtown is a long, lurching trip to nowhere in particular, but Elizabethtown is a place where you wouldn't mind spending some more time, though perhaps under different circumstances. " - The New York Times

Sounds not so good.

worst movie i have ever seen. orlando bloom is a horrible actor, i think he should stick to being pretty and legolas. he really is just eye candy. and i think there was some deeper meaning that was supposed to be hit, but i totally missed it.

went with the wife last night and that is pretty much spot on.

I still somewhat enjoyed this movie (the soundtrack is great). Garden State was way better done though. Kirsten Dunst(sp?) has a terrible southern accent which really annoyed me. Luckily she kind of faded in and out of it during the course of the movie so alot of her scenes were tolerable. Actually, the more I try to think about really redeeming qualities, all i can think of is the sound track. Without good music, I probably would not have liked it at all.

saw it with the gf the other night.

1 out of 4 stars i give it.

the best part was when the little kid ran up to the cake and put that big ol piece in his mouth! i thought that was funny. movie definitely seemed rushed. soundtrack good though. wait for rental.

My brother and his family live in Elizabethtown (they actually call it E-town), its not too bad, its the snottiest small town I've ever seen though.
