'Today' Reporter Paddles in Shallow Water
Oct 14 5:25 PM US/Eastern

NEW YORK

If Michelle Kosinski's canoe had sprung a leak on NBC's "Today" show Friday, she didn't have much to worry about.

In one of television's inadvertently funny moments, the NBC News correspondent was paddling in a canoe during a live report about flooding in Wayne, N.J. While she talked, two men walked between her and the camera _ making it apparent that the water where she was floating was barely ankle-deep.

Matt Lauer struggled to keep a straight face, joking about the "holy men" who were walking on water.

"Have you run aground yet?" Katie Couric asked.

"Why walk when you can ride?" Kosinski replied.

Later, an NBC News spokeswoman explained that Kosinski had been riding in deeper water near an overflowing river down the street, but there were concerns that the current was too strong for her.

"It's not like we were trying to pass it off as something it wasn't," spokeswoman Lauren Kapp said. "

So can we please stop acting as though FOX News is so much worse than all the other channels. thx

Hell, even MSNBC made her look like a dumb ass tonight. She used to work in Charlotte for WSOC.

Maybe she can paddle down the mighty Mississippi to N'Orleans and find the hundreds of thousands of dead bodies that have yet to turn up.

i take it as a typical "the media is full of shit and makes its money by peddling exaggeration" situation

fox news is biased politically, but I don't think it's any worse than the others when it comes to being retarded

this is just goofiness, not bias

how does it have anything to do with Fox?

I know that "Fair and Balance" isn't a phrase that can be trademarked by a news organization...

I believe Geraldo did this in water about a foot (maybe 2 ft.) deep in New Orleans. By your logic, you can't say he did this b/c the water was nasty, and full of toxins.

you're right! the water in NJ is so dangerous that the CDC has issued warnings against allowing it to contact bare skin!

oh wait - no, there hasn't been any warning or even talk of danger regarding contamination in the northern flood water.

what problems to people usually have with Fox News? I'm thinking boating in shallow isn't one of them.

also, Excoriator quickly brought up how "liberals" were being to easy on the shallow water boater, suggesting the topic is indeed about political bias
