^ The Balfour Report clearly stated that they had the ability to develop their WMDs in a matter of weeks if need be.

What is archaic about pointing out that Herb has won nothing in consequence in 9 years? He has gotten us to the tourney...big whoop. I guess your idea of success and mine or two different things, you should really pull for a school from the MAC if NITs and NCAA berths tickle your fancy.

Yes. My point is since that time, football has only gone downhill. Right now, it's at the lowest point it's been under Chuck.

Basketball has only gone uphill. Right now, it's at the highest point it's been under Herb.

RIGHT NOW, I don't see how one can have beef with Herb, or no problem with Chuck.

I was once a big Chuck supporter.... but it's increasingly evident that something is wrong. He's got a great eye for talent, he just cant put together much of a staff. Hell, our staff is absolutely horrible.

I still don't think we're going anywhere with Herb. He's gotten us back to respectability, he may keep us in the top 25, but I just don't see us going anywhere with this crazy offense. Too streaky, inconsistent, and we're gonna continually get waxed by more athletic teams

it isn't wait til next year optimism, it's being able to see the progress we've made over the last 4 years and finding no reason to believe we won't continue to improve upon it. 4 straight years making the tournament, 3 bouncing around 1st-2nd round, and then the 4th we make the sweet 16. at that rate, we'll most likely hover around 2nd round/sweet 16 for a year or two and then if we continue to progress you start making the elite 8. like i said, it's a very gradual improvement.

now, i have a question for you people who continue to hate on herb. do you HONESTLY believe that there's a better chance of some other coach that we could actually get to come coach here if we fired herb now, coming in and winning a national championship in his first 5 years here than the chance of herb winning one by his 14th?

we aren't gonna get any roy williams caliber coaches to come here, ever. our only chance at that is if we get a young coach that comes in and works his way up to that caliber, which we could quite possibly have right now in herb sendek.

nc state is no longer the kind of program where you could bring in a coach and say "bring us a national title in 10 years or you're fired", and herb isn't the reason why. i remember when a lot of you said you would shut up about herb if he made the sweet 16. now you're saying the same thing about the elite 8. it's very easy to say "there's no way he'll ever win a national championship" about any coach until they prove you wrong. that's a copout. herb is clearly making our program better, and until that changes, he keeps the job.

I won't comment on that and name who I'm thinking

Herb shouldn't be let go. I've hated him in the past, but he's done enough in the clutch to deserve another few years. I'm sick of scoring 10 pts in the 1st half vs. St. Joes... blowing games to teams like Temple.... blowing 17 point leads in the ACC championship..... but overall, I'm happy to be back in the sweet 16.

As far as

I'll say yes, becuase I don't think we have a shot in hell in a national championship with this system. Too many coaching calls and debacles for me to think otherwise.

Here's to hoping I'm wrong.

Mike Tise should come in when he gets fired from the Vikings at the end of the year. He will surely take care of the discipline problem.

not saying Herb should be fired... but if everybody's happy to constantly check the "bubble watch" during the season, praying for some upsets in the ACC Tourney, and watching us really struggle against crappy teams, then I guess we should sign him to a long term contract

yeah we made it to the sweet 16, and that's good.. but you have to look at how we got there to correctly gauge Herb's performance as a coach. He doesn't really coach much during games IMO, he doesn't make in-game adjustments (Duke gave the ball to Shelden Williams like 10 times to start the 2nd half last year and we never once doubled down low, and they pulled away).. he doesn't use timeouts when we need them most, we never have successful in-bound plays or last minute plays (its always been, give it to Hodge and hope he bails us out, I'm curious to see what we go with this year)

I think Herb Sendek is a decent coach, he's a pretty good recruiter, and he's a really classy guy but when are we going to stop resting our hopes on recruiting big 3 point shooters and hoping they stay hot all season? It may be just me, but putting our hopes on players like Jordan Collins shooting jumpers doesn't make me confident when watching NC State play basketball

I know our offense is centered around the 3 and has been ever since Herb came, but Herb has been starting Cedric Simmons in every game this year to try to develop a inside game for us. Ced struggled up until the game against Delaware, simply from his lack of confidence in his game, but Herb kept sending him in even though he was really struggling. I think our offense is going to look different this year in that we work the 3 and if it isn't going we will go to the inside more, as opposed to other years where if we struggled from the arc we just kept shooting til it dropped or gave the ball to hodge. Ced and Brackman are going to cause big problems on the inside and foreign guys will hold down the outside.

blah blah blah.

a good measure of coaching is how many times we beat ourselves. We all know that happens a fair amount under herb. Compare that to the gold standard -- coach K. Rarely do Duke teams ever melt down like our teams do. Thats the level where we need to be.
