Depends what you want really. Islands of Adventure is the better park for thrill rides; it's difficult to compare, though, because Disney has 4 main parks and then a ton of waterparks and other stuff, whereas Universal has two parks (in Orlando, that is). The best thing to do would probably be to squeeze in a day at Islands of Adventure during a Disney trip. Sea World and Busch Gardens Tampa are options as well. 10/16/2005 8:26:36 PM |

I would go for Universal Islands of Adventure which is a pretty good compromise. Disney is great but you need to go to all of the parks to get the real experience (Magic K. is really kid oriented, Animal Kingdom is great but you can't spend an entire day there, Epcot is not really that much fun very few rides, and MGM is fun but again few rides)Universal studios is ok, but the motion simulator experience gets old after Jaws and ET. Islands of Adventure has the virtual reality rides, water rides, roller coasters, etc. 10/16/2005 8:26:58 PM |

yup, universal wins. ESPECIALLY if you go for halloween horror nights this months. pay EXTRA for express pass so you don't have to wait in long lines... only way to get a park done in 1 day and can spend another day or two at disney 10/16/2005 10:45:02 PM |

live here in orlando so i frequent both plenty. they cost roughly the same so money-wise its just basically whatever you're looking for. the assessment of each park above was pretty spot on. IOA is the best for the "standard" theme park thrills and has some fun rides. universal studios has a few good rides (men in black, mummy, shrek, etc), but for the money you are better off going to islands of adventure. the dual park pass isnt too much more though (i think) if you're into that.
disney is fun, but the good rides are really spread out, each park only having 1 or 2 must-hits. epcot though has gotten a lot better compared to what someone else said b/c spaceship earth is really one of the best rides at disney. someone died on it recent as well, what thrills.
