I gots a '94 Sentra over here getting the left side repainted. This is the first and last time I do this in the driveway. It's not turning out too bad (yet), but this ain't no paint booth.
I miss having access to a paint booth. 10/17/2005 11:31:36 PM |

Nope...buddy's car, and he's here right now.
Funny story. They were downtown at the Pourhouse, and this BRAND NEW dually comes barrelling along and rakes down the driver's side of my friend's car. Another friend of mine was there also, and his car got totally wadded...Jetta VR6 10/18/2005 12:11:08 AM |

Turned out pretty good for a quick fix. $175 junkyard door, $35 rim, $80 for paint, and my time.
Now we're gonna have to paint the rest of the car to match the left side! Nah...this is transportation, not show. The car did look kinda funny with one white door. It's a 4dr, and the factory color is ruby pearl. I used Dimension basecoat, which is Sherwin-Williams' generic line ('cause it's good and cheap; $40 for a quart of 4th Dimension, whereas S-W Ultra 7000 is around $50 for a half pint), followed by Sherwin-Williams Ultra 7000 CC639 Glamour Clear.
Pics to follow soon. Keep in mind that this was a quick and dirty scuff and paint. Didn't even use a sealer and didn't blend, as my big spray gun is fucked up. Used a jamb gun for the whole job, and it's damn near impossible to do a good blend job (not enough flow to wet good). 10/18/2005 1:46:22 AM |

Indeed. Eric's just got scraped (broke mirror and door handle), and the rim bent to hell.
Simon's car got its fudge packed. Totally fucked. 10/18/2005 2:06:56 AM |

That's happened twice to me. The first time a guy with a trailer caught my work truck and ripped off the back bumper. Second time a trash truck scraped me. The guy with the trailer paid me cash money on the spot for me to not report it(more than enough to replace the bumper from a junkyard).

Nothing dumped on the ground, and all the paints I used met VOC requirements for this area...
Most shops exhaust to the atmosphere anyway... 10/18/2005 2:16:09 AM |
