Hey guys, I need some help with a problem I'm having...

Starting last Thursday, my computer would be turned off every now and then when I came back from class or something (a couple times a day maybe). I'd have to flip the power switch on the UPS to the off position, wait a few seconds, and flip it back on for the computer to power back up. Nothing else plugged into the UPS seemed to lose power. I switched where I had the computer plugged in on the UPS as well as plugging it straight into the wall and it's still happening (when plugged into the wall, I have to unplug for a few seconds and plug back in for it to boot).

I'm trying to narrow down what the problem might be. I figured the power supply is pretty obvious, but I've had it for about 9 months and haven't added anything new since then. Any other ideas?

Is it an online UPS?

Your batteries might be dead.

That's what I thought, but it happened when I plug the computer straight into the wall anyway.

I don't think it's an online UPS anyway, it was pretty cheap a few years ago.

if plugging into the wall doesn't help (IE: it's not the UPS) I'd be 99.9% sure it's the PSU. sometimes you just get a bum one that craps out on you after awhile.

something like this would be good. pretty sure you can get that PSU (or the exact one under a different brand name) at Intrex for a very similar price.

I just realized that the fan on the PSU itself was no longer blowing (the rest of the fans were working and CPU temp was fine). There's a high-low-off switch, I turned it from high to low and it's blowing some air out now (althought not as much as the high setting, but that's not working). Hopefully that will fix it, if not, I'll probably order a Thermaltake PSU from Newegg.

Thanks for the help and suggestions gargs and rogueleader. I'll probably pay a few extra bucks for a Thermaltake over that Fortran, based on reviews on Newegg.
