"Folks on the inside and near inside are holding their breath and wondering what's next," said a Bush adviser. But, he added, they aren't focused on the future of the vice president. "Not that, at least not seriously," he said."

Unless Cheney is dragged off to prison, I'm pretty certain it's not going to happen. My own personal theory is that there hasn't been a real assassination attempt against bush during the last five years because the alternate, ie. Dick Cheney, would be scarier for all of Bush's enemies.

I don't think Rice generates the same level of hatred, fear, and loathing that Dick Cheney does.
