I seriously almost don't want to respond to you, in hopes that if I ignore the troll it might go away, but for the record:

Herb was given shit and has turned it into silver, and is working on making it gold.

Chuck was given gold is working hard to turn it into shit.

It's not rediculous to discuss Herb getting us a championship, I would guess that it won't be this year though. Maybe an ACC title this year, but not a national one.

Herb's job was not to come in here and build a championship team. In case you have forgotten or just not read the history, we SUCKED before Herb got here. He got us out of the shitter, so what are you bitching about. I will be satisfied as long as we are competitive in this league, because all it takes is a hot streak one year at the right time to win it all.

^^chuck was given an out-of shape team put together by a coach that went to one bowl with his own players. this same team lost to bad UNC, WF, and ECU teams the year before. how is that "gold"?

and will it take herb another 9 years to produce this "gold"?

what is your point? Hodge is obviously one of the better players to ever play here, not the best, but great. Herb brought him here, and coached him to that greatness.

I think it might be easier to replace a Hodge type player than Phillip Rivers at such an important position on the football team. We might not have his leadership, but the tallent I think we can replace. Rivers had no weakness in college except a shitty defense.

Do you even know how many times in the history of NCAA basketball that NC State has made it to the Final Four?

I know with Carolina and Duke being so close by, it seems like an easy feat to accomplish, but making the Final Four shouldn't be a criteria by which you judge the overall strength of your basketball program. There are maybe six or eight schools in all of basketball that should expect to make the Final Four on a regular basis; NCSU is just not one of them.

THEY weren't crippled with NCAA sanctions that they had to rebuild from. Unfortunately we were cripplied with them at the time where college bball was first widely televised NATIONALLY with the emergence of ESPN in EVERY household and games on TV every night..

The timing of the V Era sanctions was a more crushing blow to our program then most even think. I think our team is right on schedule. Less then 10 years ago we were the LAUGHING STOCK of the ACC and the nation. Now we are a perrenial Top 25 and NCAA team with recruiting only getting better each year.

Now I still think Amato can turn it around but think back 3 years. We were a buzz in the country and an up and coming team. Judging by the commentators the last 2 games we are one of the laughing stocks in the nation. Quite a different situation b/t the two programs. That being said, I still support both Herb and Chuck; although I will criticize each as I see fit..

Over the last 3-4 years we have CERTAINLY held our own against Maryland, Duke, UNC, and Wake Forest head to head FWIW.. I'll look up the records and post them again..

Herb went to the NCAA tournament in year 6. Is Chuck going to a bowl this year??

We were also #3 in NC basketball last year (we got further than Wake in the ACC and NCAA tourneys). Right now we are #3 in NC football this year (we could be #4, but thankfully we don't play Duke this year). By the way...no one really competes with Duke and UNC. We do as well as anybody else in the country does...which is beat them every now and then. Too bad we can't do what most other teams do in football...and that is fucking beat a shitty UNC team. But we're shitty now too, so I guess it's tough to ask that.

It took Herb 9 years because we were the worst program in the best conference in the country. Chuck took a middle of the pack team in a weak ass conference and got 4 decent seasons. Now we are a middle of the pack/bottom tier team in a strong conference. He was carried by players that the coach before him recruited (Rivers, Fischer, Cotchery, etc).

Herb has slowly gotten the job done. We have the potential this year to have our best team in 15 years. We have depth and talent, and a coach that PRODUCES WHEN HIS BACK AGAINST THE WALL. When the fans are all over him and calling for his head...he doesn't panic, he doesn't call out fans, he doesn't take off his sunglasses and red shoes (because he doesn't wear that gay shit to begin with), he doesn't treat the media like crap....when Herb Sendek is under pressure, he wins basketball games, he plays well in the ACC tournament, and he makes the NCAA tourney and gives our team and our fans hope. When Chuck Amato's back is against the wall...he fuckin loses to UNC and gets embarassed by Clemson.

I'm not totally giving up on Chuck...but I sure don't feel great about him right now. Talent is great, but it doesn't do you any good when you don't have good head coaching or consistency in assistant coaching. Chuck has an ego. Ask any of his assistants. We have to have the worst assistant turnover ratio in college football during his tenure. He needs to check his attitude at the door and let his assistants do the work. Because you know what Chuck...you know what has been the only constant in your whole tenure of mediocrity and recent dissappoint...thats right...YOU! I hope Chuck can surprise me and finish the year off decent...but I'm sure as hell not holding my breath.

But dumb motherfuckers like ThaBigL need to stop using Herb Sendek to make Chuck Amato look better...because that's a dumb fucking thing to do. Herb is getting the job done...Chuck is not. End of story.

sendek continues to bring in great recruits just like amato, but he disciplines his players. if you fuck up, you don't play. the only time amato would EVER bench/cut a good player, is if it would clearly get us in trouble with the NCAA by not doing it (richard washington).

sendek sent wilkins packing because he didnt like his attitude. sendek benched hodge more than once. he also took cameron bennerman, who couldnt play defense, and turned him to one of our best defenders by benching him until he put forth the effort to improve. a lot of people bitched about that last year when it happened, but look at what it got us. i'm confident with bennerman's defensive ability now, and we all know how explosive he is on offense.

amato's teams have no discipline. when rivers was here he at least took matters into his own hands and yelled at players and kept their heads in the game. sendek is light years better than amato as a coach, there's really no comparison at all.
