So over break i bought my moms (and previously grandmothers) immaculately maintained, always garaged, relatively low milage and fully loaded Mercedes 190 e with teh 2.6. Frankly this is the first cream puff nice car i've ever owned that i don't want to do anything to, so if something needs working on and I do not have the time, i'll spend the money to take it somewhere good.

I'm looking for people who know reliable honest shops, and good sources for parts which i'm sure i'll need.

German Performance in garner

http://www.gpcauto.com

The P.O. of my old Audi coupe used them for every service/maintenance stop, and that thing was in mint shape at 175k miles. I've also used them for alignments and a couple of things I didn't have time for on the various cars I've had since then - good shop.

Eurospeed finally went out of business? That place sucked ass and its owner was a douche. I dynoed my car there when that one Honda guy worked there... he did a good job tuning and he was cool to talk to.

But Alex (the Asian guy, I believe the owner) was an ass. He generally had a sour disposition in the first place, but one other thing sticks in my mind. My friend's FD was over there with us and we were asking if he was any good at tuning a Power FC. Then Alex starts telling us how the AEM EMS or whatever their standalone is called is way better than the Power FC and that my friend should have gotten one instead because they don't know how to use a Power FC. We didn't ask for his opinion. FDs do run the AEM system, but far more people use the Power FC and its certainly worth the money.

The next time I went by that place they had downsized their shop significantly and I suspected things weren't going well. I'm glad to see that their bad reputation did them in.

I HIGHLY recommend D&E. They are located up off capital on Discovery Dr. I took my Mercedes there a few times. Each time I took it, they were very courtious and well priced. They were quick and accomodating. They also took me out in the garage to actually show and explain me what was broken and then showed me a not broken reference (I broke a support) - being a female, this was very much appreciated. I never felt like they were ripping me off. They specialize in Mercedes and Acuras. No BMW's - I tried to take it there when I bought my BMW.

Its so wierd driving a really tame car, its like theres no road feel in comparison, but it still handles way better than anything else, plus the interior is 100% nicer than anything else i've had, and its quiet?

Chicks dig it more than Puta tho unfortunately.

My dad's Porsche has had its work done at European Performance, and it is in pristine condition. They do service on a Porsche 959 as well as Carrera GTs and Ferraris, so I think they can handle your Mercedes. They have by far the friendliest staff I have ever worked with.
