Quote : | "On Letterman, Al Franken Jokes About Execution for Treason of Rove, Libby and Bush Posted by Brent Baker on October 22, 2005 - 02:44.
"And so basically, what it looks like is going to happen is that Libby and Karl Rove are going to be executed” because “outing a CIA agent is treason,” left-wing author and radio talk show host Al Franken asserted Friday night, to audience laughter, on CBS’s Late Show with David Letterman. Franken qualified his hard-edged satire: "Yeah. And I don't know how I feel about it because I'm basically against the death penalty, but they are going to be executed it looks like." Franken later suggested that President Bush is at risk of receiving the same punishment, since Karl Rove likely told him what he did, but he added a caveat: “I think, by the way, that we should never ever, ever, ever execute a sitting President." Ironic coming from the camp that is supposedly opposed to the death penalty.
I guess the death penalty is acceptable as long as you're executing elected officials and their staffs. 10/26/2005 10:50:27 AM |

forgive me if i'm wrong, but didn't he say "they will be executed," insinuating that since execution is a typical form of punishment for treason, that's what will happen? I don't recall him saying, anywhere in that quote "i want them to be executed." Find where he said it. Go ahead.
in fact, he said very clearly And I don't know how I feel about it because I'm basically against the death penalty, but they are going to be executed it looks like
if you can't read that plain and simple english and come to the same conclusion, i have no hope for the education systems in this country.
Also, democrats as a whole aren't against the death penalty. Looks like it's 58/36/6 for democrats
http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/article.php?scid=23&did=1266
and 54/42/4 for "liberals"

I blame it on a week's worth of sleep depravation and a general cynicism towards the entire topic. Besides, if they didn't even execute Aaron Burr for an armed rebellion against the Federal Government then they sure as hell aren't going to execute any of those involved in the entire Plame case.10/26/2005 12:35:27 PM |

^^^ Yeah, but at that time, I think they were just itching to fry someone to pacify the public during the Red Scare. There's no political value for the White House in executing Rove and Libby... unless Bush is getting ready to jump the aisle. 10/27/2005 6:23:52 PM |
