I got a ticket on campus Tuesday, and I don't have a good appeal, any ideas?

how about just pay the ticket. you obviously don't have a good reason for breaking the law, so why shouldn't you have to pay it?

Are we talking speeding or parking?

probably parking, i believe those are the only ones you can "appeal". speeding on campus is a normal north carolina uniform citation as far as i know. i got quite a few parking tickets when i was in school, but i always knew what i was doing and just payed them. ended up being a hell of alot cheaper than a parking permit, and i was always within a block of whatever class i was going to.

Yeah, unless you have some sort of excuse that can hold water, it's unlikely you'll get it reduced, much less dropped. I was moving one day, backed up to the front door, and got a $50 parking in a no-parking zone ticket. I argued that I was moving and didn't feel like hauling a couch across the parking lot. They reduced it to like $25 or $30, but wouldn't budge after that. Whatever you do, don't use the 'ol "but I had my flashers on" excuse, they'll laugh in your face.

i think the funniest one i got was "parking on a landscaped area". it was a patch of dirt with maybe 3 weeds growing.

^ yeah i got one of those for parking on the grass island in the lot, and they threatened to may me pay for damages, and the mother fuckers ened up dropping it on the second appeal hearing. i have a good connection now though, from when i was working for the motor pool, he drops state vehicle and personal parking tickets for us all the time.

the power distribution crew was swapping out a transformer during an emergency power outage at harris hall a few years back and they all got tickets on their state trucks for parking in metered spaces without paying, and they refused to pay the tickets and couldnt get their employee parking permits renewed.

basically, transportation anwers to no-one but the vice chancellor. the director of transportation is an asshole, so taking it up the ladder gets you no-where, trust me, ive been through it many times. the best way is to keep it on the down-low, dont piss any peons, off at the bottom of the totem pole, because they can usually get you out of it.

personally my old standby was, i missed the bus and had a test, so i had to take a chance on getting a ticket or failing the test, as long as you havent had many tickets, they will usually reduce it.

why don't you just call your fucking mommy and have her pay for it since you are already whining that it's not your fault.

fucking fag.

I got a warning and two tickets in a single day once. My damn parking tag had fallen off the windshield.(they used to use suction cups)

I actually won that appeal, but at the time you had to pay first. I got my money back 3 months after the tickets. Bastards. Hell, they'd already gouged me once for the permit anyway.

^yeah, well... that's actually a legitimate reason. whining just because you don't feel like paying isn't. if you don't want to pay, then just don't do it. pretty simple rule most people fail to live by.
