I'm organizing a social event for this Thursday (3rd November), and the person I'm working for just told me he would like some sort of boxed meal for the guests, most of whom will be vegetarian. I've never worked with a catering company before, so I don't really know if this is enough notice or anything like that. I guess my question is, do any of you have a recommendation of a particular company to go with, and is three days notice enough to prepare meals for 20-30 people? 10/30/2005 2:29:17 PM |

You don't really need a "caterer" for boxed meals. Those can be purchased from many restaurants and delis.
Bear Rock Cafe does vegetarian sandwich boxed lunches that are pretty good.
Neomonde is a great choice - their trays are excellent.
48 hours notice should be plenty for either place...three days notice would be very considerate. Just find out if vegetarian is sufficient or if they need to be vegan.
Another place I have not had boxed lunches from but imagine they would do them is Cafe Carolina and Bakery. 10/30/2005 4:12:05 PM |

cafe carolina does very yummy boxed lunches. their vegetarian options are next to nothing: the portabella pannini, which isn't available in either a catering order or a boxed lunch. their garden veggie wrap is available for both. they have some new items on the menu, but these also aren't available for boxed lunches or catering orders. 10/30/2005 4:16:11 PM |

Sasquatch is a mammal. Vegetarians don't eat mammals. 10/30/2005 4:43:38 PM |

THe Park Diner in Durham caters and can do vegetarian spreads. My friend Bryan does the cooking and can pretty much do anything you want. 405-2270 10/31/2005 12:02:39 PM |
