^Essentially, the deal is
You need to complete two unpaid training weekends as a flagger assistant.

After this training, you can take $75 per day or 2 weekends for a free event.

NICE!! I'm also looking into joining the Mid-Atlantic division of NASA instead of the South-East division since the tracks that the Mid-Atlantic division run on are closer to Raleigh.

just become a nasa member and you can drive any of the tracks.

thats how it use to be before they split them up into divisions i think.

but im sure if you become a SE member, you can still drive some tracks up north or out west

You just join NASA, you don't join a specific region. You have a 'home region' (which for me is Mid-Atlantic) but that doesn't really mean anything that I know of. I've done events with both the southeast and the mid-atlantic region, the only difference is you have to check schedules at different websites.

NASA Southeast: http://www.nasa-southeast.com/

NASA Mid-Atlantic: http://www.nasa-southeast.com/

Southeast already has a 2006 schedule posted. I might think about doing the 4 for $800 when I see some other clubs schedules to make sure there won't be a lot of conflicts. Rockingham, Roebling and two at Road Atalanta for $800 would be nice.

There are also other car clubs you might want to look into, like Chin Motorsports and Car Guys. Their events are more expensive and spread out but you get a lot more track time at them. NASA events are notoriously bad at getting way off schedule and cutting track time because of wrecks that happen during races.

Either way, join a club and get on track.

seat-time.com is a real good site also.

if you qualify to go solo, you can pretty much pay $100 or less for a one day event

Are credits transferable between regions? I'm really interested in working a few events and building up enough credits to take a HPDE course for free. I still have to make a financial investigation though. It might be more expensive (with hotels, meals and gas to drive to the track) to work a couple events then it would be to just pay straight out.

In my opinion, it's really not worth working unless you really think you'd enjoy it.

Your lunch is paid for, but the considering the gas + time spent I'm not sure it pans out.

You should still do an hpde, just not sure working is the way to pay for it.

might not be bad for VIR since its close enough to not require a hotel.

that's what i was thinking. and since the southeast region doesn't have any events st VIR i was looking at joining the mid-atlantic region. but evidently it doesn't matter.
