What democracy? The next President will be hand picked by Putin. The only guy who genuinely won elections in Russia was Yeltsin in 1991. Even his reelection in 1996 was questionable by democratic standards, though it's hard to compain given his alternative was a communist.

Uhm, he fucked it up himself. He singlehandedly cancelled elections of governors. I mean even if there is a legalistic argument that this is somehow allowed under the Constitution, what other change any more drastic can one introduce?
