This game snuck up on me, as it was oringally slated for beginning of October, then moved up to end of Oct, then beginning of November, then middle of November, then was released under the radar last week.
I'm rushing to put on an event for this, probably at UT again, within the week or so
it got a 7.5 on IGN

Quote : | "Closing Comments By combining an enjoyable Career mode with an exciting multiplayer element, Greg Hastings' Tournament Paintball Max'd successfully delivers an entertaining experience. Though on the whole it's a solid title, it does have limitations. First, even though the Career mode does offer a degree of customization and character development, it still manages to get old after a while. This is simply because each map feels similar to the one before and you'll find you’re just repeating a succession of arena battles. The graphics and sound can be bland at times but never really detract from the core gameplay. You'll definitely want to play over Xbox Live after a while, since that's where most of your replay value is going to come from." |

Does anybody else find the concept of paintball to be kind of pointless in a video game? I mean, you play paintball in real life because you can't go around shooting kids to play capture the flag. That's not really a valid concern on XBox. 11/2/2005 5:12:57 PM |

Real paintball is about reflexes
Videogames are about reflexes
Thats like saying the concept of basketball/football games are pointless, you don't always have a full group to go run a game with 11/2/2005 5:17:57 PM |

Not really.
What I'm saying is that paintball, in real life, is a substitute for something you can't otherwise do in real life.
If it's a videogame, why not just do the "dangerous" thing?
It is far more analagous to making a videogame for playing tag football.] 11/2/2005 5:20:10 PM |

i dont play football, wrestling, etc b/c i cant normally beat the crap out of someone without consequences. likewise i dont play paintball as a substitute for murder. it's fun because it gets your adrenaline pumping and is unlike many other sports/hobbies out there. i do agree however that some aspects dont really transfer (like the adrenaline rush, or "incentive" not to get hit).
you really should try both this game and real speedball.
[Edited on November 2, 2005 at 5:47 PM. Reason : plus most non-tournament speedball (and some tournies) just play elimination] 11/2/2005 5:46:09 PM |
