wow you're tiny! hmmm, try the saks off 5th outlet near the airport or nordstroms - designer clothes tend to run pretty small. the off 5th store sometimes has some good deals. maybe talbots petite section? petite sophisticate (i hate the store personally but hey..), maybe steinmart - they have a petite section that has some rather tiny clothes, maybe some boutiques (there were some when i was in raleigh, don't know about now) in cameron village. also, consider tailoring clothes. i used to buy pants at places like tj maxx and marshalls and then would take them to lee's tailors in the mall at crabtree. they could do amazing stuff to make things fit. so $25 pants plus another $15 to have them custom fit = $40 so not bad. 11/3/2005 9:54:52 AM |

eek, $40! i have a hard time paying more than $15 for a piece of clothing.
i've tried all of the petites stores, no luck there either. there HAS to be somewhere that has decent fitting pants. 11/3/2005 9:57:39 AM |

The outlet stores in Smithfeild may be of some luck... try on several size 0 and since its an outlet store they will vary and so one just might fit (I know with the Gap outlet I have worn pants that range from a 4 to a 0 and then sometimes even the 0 is too big!)
Have you looked in the kids sections as well? You might some that are covered with butterflys or glitter and are still long enough...
But I think over all if your gonna want to find dress pants to fit in your size your gonna have to pay more the $15. Plus remember that plain black dress pants are not gonna go out of style so paying $50 for pants you can wear for 5+ years is a good deal! 11/3/2005 10:57:54 AM |

Ann Taylor and AT Loft stores. They have a good amount of petites and great clothes for work. 11/3/2005 11:27:07 AM |

like i said, kids pants don't fit right in the butt or length.
tried tj maxx and marshalls, no luck.
gap pants don't run small enough, usually a 00 at delias which runs pretty small is way too big and i have to take them up anyways.
thanks for suggestions, i think i will just pay someone to MAKE me a pair that actually fits. 11/3/2005 11:33:13 AM |

wangs tailor at western/gorman is pretty good and pretty cheap for what they do
and i agree that if you buy pants that are classic colors/prints - solids in non flashy colors, pin stripes, small plaid prints, herringbone, tweed, etc... - that arent tight and of a decent material, youll be able to wear them as long as they fit --- so itd be worth it to maybe spend a little more on the pants and/or spend 15 bucks to get them tailored to fit
^thats actually not a bad idea, then you can pick the material and style to suit you i dunno how much that sorta thing costs, but get up with ambrosia or eahanahan, theyve talked about making bags and clothes and stuff before - they may know students that know how to sew and make clothes that would do it cheaper than a professional seamstress

Logic Lesson:
If you need really specific pants (size, length, etc.) you will have to pay more than $15. Otherwise you'll have to get the closest and have them altered. 11/3/2005 11:37:51 AM |

Theory - they have 00 which runs smaller than the typical mall chain stores like GAP. You might luck up and find them on sale too. But very nice and last a long time. 11/3/2005 1:11:23 PM |

If you are short, and I know this sounds stupid, but Limited Too has girls pants that are dressy, I tend to just buy mine at Ann Taylor and get them altered, but if you're looking for something small and cheap, Limited too. I'm about 4'11 and I can fit in smmmmmaaaallll stuff and Limited Too has worked for me some if I've just needed something quick. 11/3/2005 1:41:01 PM |

if you dont want to spend more than $15 on a pair of pants that fit...you won't find anything...the smaller you are the more you will have to get it altered..if you're smaller than a 00 but can't wear kid clothing you're out of luck unless you alter 11/3/2005 5:24:36 PM |

Guess at Crabtree that has TINY pants (or maybe it just seems that way to me)... but they're rather expensive (unless you go to the back of the store on the clearance rack during the awesome sales they run pretty frequently) I'll vouch for Lee's Tailors in Crabtree... they definitely can do some amazing work. But for tiny pants, I'm thinking you're either going to have to pay WAY more than $15 for a pair of pants (I hate to tell you, but pants that cheap usually aren't meant to fit well) or you're going to have to go to Goodwill (as suggested above)... The one in North Raleigh (Wakefield to be exact) had some really nice name brand stuff that was barely used the one time I went in to make a costume for a skit. I'd suggest going to one of those and spending your $15 letting Lee's make them fit better.
Good Luck!

obviously if you care this much about what your pants look like and how they fit then they are more than "stupid clothes"
if you only have $15 to spend on pants...stop bitching about how they fit.11/3/2005 11:09:46 PM |

all i ask is that they don't look like capris and don't fall off. glittery rainbow butterfly girl pants are not acceptable office attire. i ended up getting some $15 girls pants and i'm going to cut them up and resew them so they fit.
i went to wangs tailor last week and the lady stabbed me in the vagina with a pin and the pants ended up not being able to be tailored anyways... so all i got was a pair of way too big jeans and a sore crotch. 11/3/2005 11:21:40 PM |

The Limited's size 0 fit me pretty well, but Banana Republic, Gap, etc. are all too big for me. JCrew size 0 sometimes fit me, but they're crazy expensive. So I suggest giving The Limited a try. They have pretty good sales. I just got some nice work khakis for $15 on sale.
I found Lee's Tailor at Crabtree to be very expensive, but the store in Southpoint (sorry, I can't remember the name, it might also be Lee) was more reasonable. 11/4/2005 12:31:28 AM |

Try Bennetton (there is one up at Triangle Town and Southpoint). They use European sizes, which run small and more true to actual size. They aren't cheap, but sometimes they have a good sale rack where you can get good deals on suits and dress pants. They also have small fitted dress shirts and collared shirts. 11/4/2005 7:07:43 AM |

while on the topic of pants, anybody know where I can get female guy jeans? What I mean is that I don't like clothing that clings to me and I like decent pockets, but I don't want the punk look or anything. Up until now I've actually been buying guy's jeans, but it's impossible to find the right size. In the adult's section, the waist's never small enough, and the kids' legs are all too short. 11/4/2005 10:25:43 AM |

^ Gap has a "curvy" fit jean thats new thats supposed to fit better in the waist... I havnt tried them and I have the same problem with jeans... but i wear there long and leans and just always deal with having to wear a belt! 11/4/2005 10:47:15 AM |

I say you need to eat a hamburger. I mean really... smaller than 00 is pushing it.
But anywho, being more helpful. Bennetton is a good suggestion.
Also, as for the skinny llama site, it IS a search engine, you type in what kind/brand/whatever of thing your looking for and it will bring up small size sellers.

You will have this problem forever. The only way is to get the custom made. When I was a ballerina, no pants fit me and they will never make pants that small because everyone in America is getting fatter, not skinnier. It isn't too expensive to get them made and it's worth not having to search forever for the perfect pair of pants.
PM Sonia
You will definately have to pay more than $15 though, but you will keep them forever. That's the price we pay for being small.
Oh yeah, and all the stores mentioned above(Ann Taylor, Guess, etc) don't make anything small enough. Not even worth going in there.
