i saw one tonight for fun. it was pretty quick had 180k ran great and the trans shifted very smoothly. he ragged it out showing it to me though sounded very good as most 5.0's do..

i asked him if i burned oil he said yeah it does a quart every oil change.. then he said all 5.0's do that though and with the xpipes it makes it burn more..

sounds stupid

you sold your car already or he is interested in trading you? cause when I talked to him he seemed to need the cash pretty bad.

No, all 5.0's don't burn oil. Just the ones with worn rings or valve guides or bad valve guide seals or crudded up PCV valves.

^ Mark III supra. Just get one that's in much better shape than mine... at least the body anyway. My motor is fine.

1 quart every 3000 miles is not bad on a 5.0 some burn alot of oil some burn alitlle some none at all...alot of times it is a poor PVC system sucking oil in throgh the intake, seen that plenty of times. But an X-pipe will do nothing to change the oil consumption

yeah, no kidding. my granddad has a mid-80s Chrysler Fifth Avenue he'd probably sell you whenever you get tired of the mid-80s 5.0.

Don't waste someone's time and money by taking cars that you have no intention of purchasing for a joyride.

Haha, one of the big RWD models with the 318? That would actually make a badass sleeper with a built 360 or 383 and no exterior mods whatsoever...

(yes, I have odd taste in cars )

parts for 5.0s are a dime adozen, so performance is cheap with them, just take a look at summit or jegs, you could run low 11's for les than $5k

well i was interested in the 5.0 and i was thinking about getting one.. and i was always curious about what they ran like it so it wasnt really a joyride i didnt gun it the guy when he drove me around in it gunned it, i dont rag out other ppl's vehicles.

nope i didnt over boost the 240 it stayed at 5psi the whole time. the tranny was rattling on it, it wasnt starting, it was puffing a bunch of oil on starts, along with other misc. things, so i decided it was time to sell.

yep, 318 with a 1bbl carb. 160hp, i think. BY FAR the worst handling car i've ever driven. worse than a chevy caprice, easily. worse than my old '71 cutlass. way worse than anything else i've ever driven.

yes, for the 2 weeks you had it. lol

Here's what his track record is:
bought 97 600 GSXR
Jetted and body work on GSXR
Traded GSXR for 91 240sx ka Turbo
Sold 240sx ka Turbo 2 weeks later

I think it was kinda stupid to trade the bike for the 240 then sell it 2 weeks later. You could have gotten more money with the bike. Expecially with all the money you invested in it (dumped actually).

even though i decided i probably wont get rid of the bonneville just yet, I would definitely trade guy for that 4 eyed vert, they have been really growing on me lately. gas would be a bitch, but even now i am maxing out at 21mpg.

anyhow, he dosent seem to interested in my trade offer. too bad.

no not all 5.0s burn oil most of the 347 or higher stroked ones do because the wrist pin goes through a ring

most of the stroker kits from the past year have moved the wrist pin below the oil control ring

The stang isnt new.. but it does have nearly 20years and 180k on the original parts.. then 1 quart ever 3000 miles isnt really that bad... its just broken in and real real hungry.
