For those that fish a good bit. Starting jan. 1 2006, you have to have a license to fish in saltwater (ocean, sounds, inlets, etc) in NC. I dont know how much this license is, probly around 20 bucks a year. If you have a lifetime resident comprehensive fresh water fiishing license prior to jan 1 2006, then you dont ever have to purchase the saltwater license, you are grandfathered in. The lifetime license is 250. I usually buy a yearly freshwater license, but i just bought the lifetime deal yesterday. I figure if fishing licenses go to 30-40 bucks a year like they are in most other states, it wont take long to get back my 250. The lifetime license can be bought anywhere you would purchase a regular license.

actualy, msot states will cut you a deal if you have a lifetime from another state. I have a lifetime sportsman liscense here in nc, if i travel out of state i can often get either a discounted liscense, or fee waived for a short term visitor tag, ect

Is this per person holding a fishing rod or per boat and are temporary group licenses available?
