So the other day my Ipod just stopped playing music and I looked down to see what happened. The screen was frozen and obviosly the songs werent playing. I tried hooking it up to the charger and holding down menu/play button while locking and unlocking the hold function. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do??

You obviously did the reset procedure incorrectly.

What kind of iPod do you have? A 3rd gen, or click-wheel?

Put the hold switch in the non-hold position, toggle it, THEN hold down menu/play-pause if it's a 3rd gen. Do the same thing for the 4th gen, except hold menu/select (the center button).

You would have to put strain on the wheel to press the play and menu button at the same time... you realize that the click wheel has to pivot, don't you?

you can push down all four buttons at the same time

open it up and pull the battery connection off the mainboard. That'll shut it off, guaranteed.

I've had that problem before, really annoying. Really sucks when you're driving and it freezes and you have to open it, etc. while on the road.

^^ That's messed up.

On a side note, if you have a 3rd gen and it continues to do this locking up a lot and it's out of warranty (as mine was), i found that taking it apart once, then re-hooking all the connectors firmly and cleaning out any dust etc that had gotten around the inputs or connectors fixed it.
