I searched, didn't find this anywhere.. and I just saw it on espn even though it was done on October 14th..

Jay Bilas has us 13th, and some guy from San Diego had us 14th but we were pretty much absent from everybody else's except for a few 25th spots... its weird how alot of people (on here too) either think we're going to be really good.. or really bad, ok well maybe not bad.. but not that good

We just arent consistent. We usually have the talent and ability to beat any team in the country on a given night, but we usually manage to fuck it up.

Any team with both talent & questions (losing Hodge, PG) has that happen. That's no different than our football team.

Lets face it people. Our system is too complex for these new guys to pick it up fast and run it like pros.

This season is going to be like the past several.

We will start off slow and struggle, and finally when the new guys get the hang of things, and the chemistry happens, we'll turn it on in time for the tourney and the dance.

One of these years we'll assemble 5-7 guys with 2-3 years experience total, they will peak sooner, and we will actually go very deep into the tourney but NCSU won't win it again for a very long time, not with Herbs system.

I'd be perfectly happy to be a yearly sweet 16 team with once every 4-5 year dips into the final four.

To ask more than that out of NCSU basketball is deluding yourself.

we had 7 points in the first 12 minutes. that has nothing to do with atsur not having enough minutes. we looked bad plain and simple. "it was only guelph so we didnt try 100%" may explain us not winning by 50" but it does not excuse inability to score.

...it was also the FIRST GAME.

You think any offense just magically clicks into place?

Did you watch the Spurs play their first regular season game? Their offense didn't fall into place until the 4th quarter, and that was even after multiple preseason games.

We had major problems scoring last year, and that was WITH Hodge in the lineup. Its gonna be ugly at times this year when we go 5 minutes or more without a basket.

Carolina lost to Santa Clara the first game of last season.

National Champions.

First game means almost nothing.

^^ hate to say it, but Hodge was half the reason we went 4 - 5 minutes without a basket. He would get deseperate and shoot beyond the arc (with his 12% from 3 point land stat).

He's a hell of a player and I'm not trolling, but he had his inconsistencies too.

Eh, I'd blame it more on the fact that we didn't really have good, developed inside players.

But now we do.

^I agree with that, but we also didn't have any consistent perimeter shooters in the first half of last season. Towards the end of the year Evtimov and others heated up, like they always seem to.

I would expect us to struggle from behind the arc again during the first half of the year, which will lead to some very frustrating scoring droughts.

struggling behind the arc almost spells doom for a princeton offense.

I just think we need to hold off on these predictions based on the last few years.

Just looking at this roster (and the way they approached Guelph), I get the impression that we're going to see a pretty different style this year.

So no reason to predict doom until we've seen some real games.

How's GA State's golf team??

I think a lot of the "experts" think we wont be that good because we lost Hodge. A lot of the "experts" never really watched this team, and if you haven't watched the team then you just assume this team was all Hodge, so you'll probably pick us to struggle this year.

Guys like Jay Bilas who watch A LOT of ACC know that there is a lot more to this team than Hodge. We might struggle early this year...but we are probably the most experienced team in the ACC...so I don't see big early season struggles this year compared to past year's.

I'm extremely optimistic about this year's team.

^Yeah, I'd pretty much agree with that assessment.

I want to wait and see how we match up with 'Bama and ND. At that point, we'll have a pretty good idea of what this team is capable of.

exactly why we can make these predictions. based on what we've seen the past few years. inconsistent teams. thats what has been consistent with the program under herb. we might show flashes of greatness, then we'll suck it up. and when we think the season's over, we'll win a big game.

Because right now you're just walking into a trap, since OSU has a commit from the top recruit in their next class.

^^I've never said a word about UGA basketball, and as far as OSU basketball, they have gone farther than NCSU has in the past, oh....20 years. And as far as those preseason polls, 4 out of the 15 people on that list have OSU ranked preseason. 1 more than NCSU. I guess you didnt look up that little fact before you tried to talk shit to me.

My bad, I stand corrected. Either way, they are tied, so its hard for you to sit here and talk shit. Oh, and who cares if they are under investigation. That just shows they got caught. Every team in the NCAA pretty much has a violation. And don't be so stupid to think they don't.

In other poll news:

When are people going to to finally figure out that Gonzaga will never get past the 2nd round of the tournament? Sure, they have the talent, but they can't beat a team from a major conference come tournament time. They might have top 10 talent, but when do they ever beat anyone in the top 10? I'd never pick them to do better than the WCC championship.

I mean, theyre good, but people suck their dick every year and they never get past the 2nd round (save that one year they got their first exposure)
