There are rooms on the first floor of Price.
Any NCSU student may use these between the hours of 8am - 10pm Mon -
Thurs., 8am-5pm Fridays and 5-8pm Sundays. We just recently began Sunday
afternoon hours. The practice rooms are located on the right had side of
the building if you enter from Cates Ave. Any unlocked room is a
practice room. Locked rooms are offices. The rooms on the lefthand
side of the building are large classrooms and not available.

what's up with the pianos anyway? Last I checked there were only two I don't mind playing (because all the rest are shit), and there always seems to be somebody practicing a different intsrument in those rooms, too. I really wish those people would use the empty rooms or at least the ones with shitty pianos.

^ they are all practice rooms. There are rarely empty rooms for people with instruments to practice anyway.

As for finding the crappy piano rooms and using them, that is easier said then done as this would require every instrumentalist knowing how to 1. play a piano and 2. taking the time to 'test' the pianos.

Price Music Center HAS good pianos. However, they are expensive and therefore not up for use by just any student. Recently, they have actually had locks placed on them so that only "authorized" people are able to play on them.

As far as the practice rooms go, it's kinda first come first serve. There are empty ones, which I always try to use if they are available and I am practicing an instrument other than piano. However, if those are used up, which they usually are, you gotta take what you can get. It sucks, but that's the way it is when your old music building gets burned down and you have to be placed in a building originally meant as a warehouse for books
