i got the yellow scorpion. Haven't really had a good place to test it out and do many mods with it yet. I did find a funny video of one in action though. for now, i tried taking the shocks totally off, but it made the front sit unlevel and it didn't climb as well, so i took the springs off the shocks and put them back on, for now its a happy compromise between climbing and flex. i'm sure before too long it won't be much left on the original. I have been looking for some bigger tires though

yeah, I have made use of my half grand worth of textbooks as an obstacle - and making a movie of that..... I'm thinking of cutting off a few coils to take the preload off the springs.... my roomie had suggested buying another one and swapping out the rear drivetrain for the front of the other - making all-wheel steering, but I'm not so sure its worth buying another. I think the body of mine will get the most of the modificaitons

yeah but im one impulsive mofo so if someone else wants to buy it go ahead. i still will be looking at it over tgiving break though... just if someone else comes along that is cool i wont mind.

by impulsive i mean im not really sure what kind of bike i want. i found a wrecked 1000gsxr for sale and that seems interesting but so does the hawk... so i usually have a hard time making up my mind, although im very interested in the hawk.

thanks

Kyle

it has a high and low range selector for each axle, and the low is plenty low for that tire size, and in high range, it will really go as well

well you can modify the suspension so it has enough travel to hit the fenders.... we did @least

btw... the thing actually has functional beadlocks

best thing to do when you first get 'em to have some fun is take the body off, then remove the "coil-overs." The springs really hurt it, w/o the springs, you can do some pretty fun stuff

ohhhh we got the big one.

we've broke 3 but... walmart will happily take them back

i swear Rodney Carrington was right you could take used diapers back and say "these diapers already had shit in them" and i bet they'd replace them or give you your money back.

the small ones are supposed to be way more reliable than the 1:6 ones, i hear about a lot of axle problems with the large ones

i jsut picked one up today, i got the scorpion buggy. Already removed the rear springs, flipped the rubber, and cut a few links out of the front springs. I might extend the wheelbase a little, but i dont think i need to but maybe a half inch to clear the radius arms from the axle.

we should meet on campus for some crawling
me and adam have learned that cutting 1/4" to 3/8" on rear springs and 3/8"+ on the front do nicely for stock suspension components

We are currently in the market for another front axle assembly, so if anyone has one...

i completely removed my rear shocks...flexes insane, but it thends to pull the axle under the rig on steep climbs so i need to put them back in. Im still trying to figure out a way to maybe move the shocke inward though so it will flex better.

i might get one, but i'd feel silly 'cause i work at an actual hobby store in Apex

but I can't drive my savage all the time (or racecars either)

Yeah... and you get some hella pimp lean

and just FYI, they're not really shocks, they're just springs. They're made to look like a coil-over, but they don't have any dampening properties.

friction, i highly doubt there is any oil in those. heck even "hobby" quality r/c stuff may not come with oil on cheaper rtr

I think huntgates is the worst for r/c. In gereral I think Huntgates will have more total hours open because its in the mall, but they don't have much for parts at all.

I would try Hobbymasters in Raleigh or Apex Hobbies (I think cheerwhiner works here).
