That should be a good combo because of the amount of free electives in the PHI degree-should allow for lots of the other major courses to come in.

It certainly is...in fact, several of the colleges have dual-degree programs.

I'm majoring in microbiology (BS in CALS) and interdisciplinary studies (BA in CHASS). I have friends who are majoring in biology and English, botany and Spanish, you name it. I know people who have done it and gotten out on-time : the key is to use the free electives for one major to fulfill the other major's requirements (works best on majors that have like 30 hrs free electives) and optimize use of the GERs.

Yes, it takes quite a bit of planning so you aren't in school for 6+ years . A lot of majors cross-over in various areas (i.e. Computer Science / Statistics shared a good deal of math cross-over). Usually its a technical subject doubled with another technical subject or a non-techical doubled with another non-techical. Again, you can do it, sit down and plan it out ... make sure you don't end up with two courses you need to graduate at the same time slot your final semester!

i thought that majoring in math and electrical engineering would be good..like i thought a lot could double count, but basically ECE is like fuck you, where as math is like "sure, we can do that"

but yeah, it's possible. have fun with it.

im doing Chemical Engineering and Chemistry in 4 years
take full advantage of summer school, its sucks but its worth it

I'm doing the ECE dual degree + English. It'll take 5 years, including a few summer classes here and there...but it would probably be less if I'd added the English before my second year here.

I did/am doing: Biochemistry, Chemistry, Philosophy and a minor in comp sci. My actual time in school will have been about 6 years though there was a break in the middle.

Philosophy does have a lot of free electives.

yeah -- math and ece is going to take five years w/ summer school, but that's primarily because i've been taking documentary studies classes at duke -- meh.

i picked up a film studies major cause i had 24 free elective hours in media communications.

you get 3 classes that can overlap for both majors

it's a headache towards the end because you ada doesn't auto-update to tell you what is where

Yeah, you can double major in anything if you're willing to do the work for it. I'm a computer science and english major, which has very little overlap between the two, but I'm going to pull it off in 5 years with no summer school. So yes, it's possible.
