Are you still under the delusion that those in the mainstream media actually care about reporting the truth? Read this excellent article about these "media whores."

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article10962.htm

Quote :
"The mass media is a business. They are in business to make money. Only a fool would run a business trying to sell people something that they do not want. After 9/11, a very ill-educated, self-centered, and vindictive American public wanted blood. They wanted revenge. It mattered not who was the target of that revenge, average America wanted their blood-thirst satiated in any way possible against the most convenient target. Those targets wound up being innocent people bombed in Afghanistan and trumped up charges against innocents resulting in mass murder in Iraq. "Kill them all and let God sort them out" was the call. Like a school of piranhas on a wild feeding frenzy, an ignorant American public sucked up the propaganda. And what an anti-American, disgraceful sight is was.

The mass media willingly obliged a sick and twisted thirst for revenge by a sick and twisted American public by giving the crowd what it wanted. In show business parlance the words would be, "The show must go on!” and the media gave a spectacular all-American show.

But what is the mass media besides a group of individuals working in a certain business? From what I’ve seen working in the mass media for over 28 years, I can tell you that show business has much more than its share of dishonest, vain, egotistical, and distasteful people. Show business has more prima-donnas and vain-glorious people in it than I have ever had the displeasure of working with in any other business. The mass media is full of the most wretched people you’d ever meet. I can count on my right hand the number of truly honest, good people I’ve met in this business over these years.

Watch that Fox News or CNN newscaster. Besides dressing and putting make-up like a prostitute (which, in a way, she is) she just reeks of insincerity. She doesn’t care if she’s telling the truth or not. All she cares about is her career and being on TV. She, and thousands like her, contaminate the airwaves on your TV nightly. They don’t care about the truth. They only care about their job; and carrying on the façade that they are important. They are the lowest of the low. These are fake plastic people living in a make-believe plastic world. To expect them to tell the truth is like expecting men to bear children; it’s not going to happen.

I’ve even met on-air announcers who threw away their own families and children in the pursuit of fame. What sad and disreputable excuses for human beings these people are. Don’t think that I am talking about just a few of your on-air announcers, I am talking about the vast majority that you see on TV. The truly dedicated and honest ones don’t make it to fame; they have a conscience and drop out while they can still look themselves in the mirror.

Most TV announcers have sold their souls to the devil in exchange for fame. I know, I have met many who readily admit so (it doesn’t matter whether or not you believe in God or Satan – the fact remains that these people made a pact with the devil in return for fame). We should not expect anything from them except lies and a full plate of vanity. Of course they lied about Iraq. Of course they’ll lie about anything. They have no conscience. After all, all they want to be is on TV and to do so, they think they have to give the public what it wants. It doesn’t matter if it’s the truth or not. Joe six-pack doesn’t like the truth; if the mass media told the truth, their ratings would go down and our little Miss Hot-Shot newscasters might be out of a job.

And now the public is waking up to the crimes and lies of the Bush administration. Only a fool would expect that these sick examples of human perversion who make up our mass media would suddenly change their ways and begin to tell the truth."

Another good article:

Why the U.S. Media Is a Whore
http://www.strike-the-root.com/51/herman/herman5.html

Quote :
"“Noam Chomsky, who is a brilliant man,” wrote pamphleteer George Humphrey, “produced a movie titled Manufacturing Consent, and in this movie he shows that of the approximately 33,000 newspapers and magazines in our country, over 95% are controlled by eight multinational corporations.”"

Ever wondered why NBC, CBS, and ABC seem to be the same channel? Flip through the channels during the nightly news, and notice the striking similarities: nearly identical major stories covered (in similar or identical order), similar music, graphics, timing of intros, etc.

"There is no such thing, at this date of the world's history, as an independent press. You know it and I know it. [...] If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone. The business of the journalist is to destroy the truth; to lie outright; to pervert; to vilify; to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell the country for his daily bread. You know it and I know it and what folly is this toasting an independent press. We are the tools and vassals of the rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes".

--John Swinton, Chief of Staff at the New York Times (toast at the New York Press Club, 1953)

I like the first article somewhat less because of the lack of tact when dealing with gender issues

but I generally agree with these

The real wackjobs are those who would dare to suggest that the mainstream media is the bastion of all truth in the world.

You know, I'm all for saying that mass media is a big mess and blows things out of proportion, but come on, this statement is just ridiculous. This "article" is more of a rant than anything informative.

Those who actually care about information most likely already know that the mainstream media is bought and paid for and represents a corporate/elite agenda. They probably already know that the mainstream media is owned by a handfull of interests. Yes, the first article is kind of a "rant", but maybe an "article" like this will appeal to most people. And to be fair, the author of the first article worked in the mass media for over 28 years and speaks from experience.

Sounds like an unbiased voice regarding the media to me.

^ I make a valid point and you try to misrepresent my position. Don't you hate it when people do that?

As far as credibility, mainstream media > prisonplanet + rense.com + infowars + etc.

I never said that they are the source of all truth, I simply said that a news network has more credibility than a website features the wild and unsubstantiated theories of someone with no training in journalism. Rational people will agree with me.

So is everyone in the media a part of the conspiracy? How many thousands of people is that?

Do you really have that feeble of a mind? Or do you just hope that most other people have such a weak mind?

Anyone with an ounce of critical thinking skills can understand how this works. It is a top-down control structure. Those at the highest levels determine what can and cannot be reported as news, and the rest are held in line by having their jobs on the line. If they cross the chieftans at the top, then they get fired and lose their job.

I'm just trying to figure out a number for how many people are involved in your grand conspiracy.

In all honesty, you think that a top-down control model would be able to keep thousands of people silent? According to your wild claims, there are many things that the media doesn't report and many more things that they blatantly lie about. Why don't more people come forward? The media is a massive entity, I would expect a fairly regular stream of whistle blowers.

Please provide some evidence. Just because you can imagine something being remotely possible does not make it true.

so you show a quote that says

but yet you still state and believe that the mass media is telling you the truth about the only things comming out of Iraq are horrible actions and that there are no good deeds being done. And you call us right wingers hypocrites

First of all, understand that there are some people in the MSM who blow the whistle (while being employed by the MSM), but they are few and far between. But the answer is yes. It is a very simple concept to understand if you stop to think about it. It works in many other instances and situations. Many empoyers are able to keep their employees from doing certain things. For example, public school teachers know that they may lose their job if they even talk about certain subjects (like religion) in school. And they know that they will lose their job if they actually teach religion in the school.

And with journalism and in the media, we're not just talking about keeping journalists from merely talking about certain issues (which is difficult), we're talking about keeping journalists from getting an article published or getting an investigative report produced for television (which is much easier to do). It is relatively easy for the high-level people in the MSM to stop an article from being published or a show being produced. That is what oversight does. That's why there are editors and executive producers. Editors can easily stop an article from being published, and executive producers must pre-approve or give final approval for any report being aired on tv. It is very difficult for a lone journalist in the MSM to blow the whistle while being employed at the newspaper or television station. Whistle-blowers have to leave their job in the MSM media in order to even have the opportunity to blow the whistle.

Quote :

"

People have come forward. Many others have come forward, but remember that they have to do it outside of the controlled MSM. Whistle blowers can't just have their articles and ideas put in the MS newspaper or aired on MS television. They have to use "alternatvies", such as writing novels, or writing over the internet, etc. So, it is going to be more difficult for the average person to find their work (where they blow the whistle). Gary Webb is one example of such a whistle-blower who used to work in the MSM. He had to write novels to make his views known. And we know what happened to him. He was murdered for exosing the CIA connection to drug trafficking.
