HA good luck. NTC sucks. I'm at Usuites too. Call NTC and bitch about it, and complain to the office too. You could try to see if TWC can even do an install, but I dont think they can. We can't put up satellite dishes either. If you didn't notice already, they rebroadcast directv channels as our cable, which i'm pretty sure is against DTV's policies. Check out Fox News Channel (47), been stuck on that screen for a week. 11/15/2005 9:02:24 PM |

i lived there last year, no there's no way to get hd cable, no way to get twc. last year was their final year on the contract with ntc. they were going to cancel it, but then ntc sold out to another company, so they resigned with them. 11/15/2005 9:13:02 PM |

It's suppose to be illegal to not be able to put up a sat. dish, isn't it? No matter what the lease says... 11/16/2005 1:11:20 AM |

I'm assuming only a few can do it. They can easily say you can't bolt anything to the walls.

I went by the office today to ask about NTC improvements. Basically, the NTC rep that came by in September can't get any additional channels added for a while due to some sort of issue with the contract. I also decided to ask about putting a tripod mount dish up on the patio. Renee (the manager) said that it's not allowed, and I told about the FCC rulings. She still said it wasn't allowed and didn't seem to understand what I was talking about. After reading that ^ link, it seems that we're covered under every provision and that they can't restrict a reasonable dish installation. I'll definitely be doing this after thanksgiving break.

Done Let's see how long it takes before they notice and ask me to take it down. Thank you TWW and the FCC!11/28/2005 5:09:12 PM |

just dont' take it down even if they ask. Call the FCC if it becomes a problem and/or have a lawyer write them a letter if you can afford it. 11/28/2005 5:14:03 PM |

I don't plan on taking it down. It's up to Usuites to find out whether or not their restrictions are valid or not. Theirs definitely aren't enforceable. If they give me crap, the FCC's document says to call them 1-888-CALL-FCC. Student Legal should be able to handle it for me if it comes down to it. 11/28/2005 5:27:27 PM |

So you got the dish and stuff? Is your reception good?
I'd like to point out that I was the first one to note the thing about sat dishes 11/28/2005 11:13:50 PM |

I'll give ya the credit for that one^, and to AntecK7 for the FCC link. I'm borrowing a receiver until exams are over with to see how things go. Then I'll probably buy one to add to my parents' existing account. Got a 93 signal strength, despite it being cloudy and messy outside. I figure on a clear day it may go up by 1 or 2 more points. 11/28/2005 11:45:33 PM |
