You should tolerate some things, and you should not tolerate others. For instance, our society does not tolerate murder, stealing, and rape. Yet, it does "tolerate"/allow freedom of speech and private ownership of firearms.

The term "tolerant" (used as an adjective) is vague in an of itself, yet the term has come to be re-defined and mean something else in the current "diversity" movement. The term "tolerant" has come to mean "tolerating" things like homosexuality, and accepting massive immigration and the changing of our culture, and "respecting"/"celebrating" other beliefs. Well sorry, but I don't have to respect or celebrate homosexuality or Islam. I'm free to denounce and criticize those beliefs and lifestyles all I want to. At the same time, I respect the right of others to believe what they want, but I don't have to agree with them that they are correct.

Also, those who claim to be so "tolerant" (of homosexuality, illegal immigration, other beliefs) are very INTOLERANT of Christianity and the belief that homosexuality is wrong (among other things). Granted, they have the right to believe that, but they are wrong to try to force others to believe that homosexuality is good and acceptable and that massive immigration is good (etc.).

The "tolerance" movement is the same movement to criminalize criticism of certain groups or lifestyles (ie, "hate speech" legislation). For instance, in England, you can be jailed/fined/etc. for speaking "critically" of homosexuality. There are actual laws prohibiting criticism of homosexuality, not only in England, but many other European countries. And they are trying to implement laws like that here in America.

So, the "tolerance" movement is very INtolerant of free speech that disagrees with their point of view. The entire "tolerance" movement is trying to FORCE a certain agenda on people. It's all about silencing and criminalizing certain viewpoints and speech. That is why "conservatives" despise it so much.

No, conservatives despise it so much because it puts Christianity on the defensive. Most politicians, liberal or conservative, don't genuinely give a fuck about the ideal of free speech. They're much more concerned with being able to look after their interests and beliefs. They'll usually just do a song and dance about free speech when it's convenient, but I don't see them with the ACLU when it comes time to put your money where your mouth is (defending KKK, NAMBLA, etc.) and trying to stand up for the ideal, instead of just standing up for your interests and, as a side effect, the first amendment as well.

You've got a good point. And this lack of regard for our First Amendment right to freedom of speech spills over into both the conservative and democratic masses, in thanks to the pundits, spinmysters, and talking heads on television. You have both conservatives and democrats actually pushing for censorship of the other's viewpoints and speech. For example, the conservatives (taking their lead from the likes of phony conservative and Bush lacky Sean Hannity) try to silence war critics with allegations of "hating America", "not supporting the troops", "supporting the terroists", and "aiding al-Qaeda". The liberals, on the other hand, are pushing to silence those who criticize homosexuals, etc.

This lack of regard for freedom of speech comes from the top, and the lower-file democrats and republicans loose sight of what they're actually promoting because they are caught up in blind party loyalty.

People must break out of this phony 2-party system, and start to think for themselves, instead of having their beliefs handed to them on a platter by the parties and the media. We need a "Bill of Rights" party (well, we do have a "constitutionalist party").

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! You don't know what socialism is do you? From dictionary.com:

"Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy."

You have to have the government to have socialism. That's what makes communism impossible because it calls for the absence of the government while socialism calls for the increase of it. And socialism is bad. It stifles competition. It STEALS from the rich and middle class to throw money at the poor so they can waste. It often (if not always) stands in direct contrast to the Constitution itself. Socialism is always bad, no matter the original intentions.

What do you mean withholding from the poor? Noone is entitled to anything. Nothing is withheld from the poor because they are not entitled to it in the first place. Welfare is stealing from the rich and middle classes to give to the poor. IT IS FORCED CHARITY!!! The socialists will fight till they are blue in the face for a woman to have the right to choose if she wants to kill her child or not, but will not fight for my right to choose if I want to give to the poor.

As for the OP, tolerance is just that. Being tolerant of someone elses way of living. It means letting them live in peace and treating them as eqauls instead of creating laws to try and prohibit or make it hard to live the way they want. You can disagree with homosexuality, but you have no right to support legislation that would relegate them to second class citizen status (ie: amending the Constitution to ban gay marriage, all the state gay marriage bans, etc.).
