so i hooked the msd up in the old z and 71 240 and it still has no spark. is there a voltage regulator or a relay that would prevent the car from starting if so where can i find this. no haynes manual at any parts stores around ral or cary. the motor turns over fine, just no fire and great def getting gas. check power to coil and distributer and starter everything is getting power. wha do i check next

You need to check to make sure you're getting some sort of trigger for the MSD box. Are you using the points dizzy? Got it all wired up correctly? What do your points and condenser look like? Remember, you still, for all intents and purposes, have a points-triggered ignition unless you've upgraded to an electronic ignition distributor or have installed a Pertronix ignitor module.

Where are you/the car located?

in cary. i have never been really good with setting the points on the distributor. do you think that if scince i have an msd box and coil that it would just be easier to go ahead and install the pertronix shit on my car. when the guy who had the car before me put the first msd box on he cut the magnetic wire from the point to the condensor and it ran but for how long i dont know. i bought this car know it had some wiring issues but i find something different each time i look at the car.
