Devonte was part of a D that led the nation 2 years ago. He gave up some plays but he made some big plays as well.

I actually remember a few plays towards the end of DE's senior season where I was thinking "Damn, that was textbook"

I mean sure he'd have some blown coverages and he wasn't the fastest person on Earth, but he definetely had some flashes.

Our defensive was heavy on the blitzing... hell, it was just about nothing but blitzing. That puts a lot of pressure on your secondary to handle man coverage just long enough for the rush to get to the QB. If the OLine is talented or just manages to thwart the rush just long enough then any ACC-caliber receiver will get open and they will burn the secondary. It is a Do-or-Die defense. Getting burnt is on the backs of the DLine and 'Backers as much as it is the secondary. All of that man coverage probably helped Devo's pro stock because it is great experience that many don't get, at least not to that extent.

ahahha

yeah TA would have been great

if he wasn't so injury prone

and if he didn't fumble a lot

and if he had any work ethic whatsoever

so if TA were a completely different football player, he would have been great

I see a lot of similarities between Toney Baker's game and TA's. (TA -> TB?) If Baker can keep the fumbles in check, and keep his head from being inflated (which the presence of Andre Brown and D. Blackmon should help with), I think he's got a good shot.

i don't think there's any risk of toney's head becoming inflated...that kid was brought up right.

ultimately, every problem he had was correctable through a willingness to work at it and coaching. T.A. could have been great. But take someone like Josh Brown. No amount of work or coaching would have ever made him more than an average college back.

i made a thread or posted a link a while back about this.

there was an article in some Atlanta publication that had coaches' quotes about how TA lacked work ethic despite great talent--and thats why he was cut.

we seem to find kids like that often.

K-rob, RayRob, T.A.

Although looks like K-rob is finally changing his ways. As good as he is now, he could easily be the most prolific receiver in the NFL right now had he done more than ride on his natural abilities in college and through most of his pro career, not to mention his off the field problems.

Actually slick, it was Dovonte who tattooed the goalpost. He was recruited as a wideout before making the switch to db. He was on the intro to FSN for almost two years.
