"On This Week, Stephanopoulos asked Rumsfeld, had he known the intelligence concerning WMDs was inaccurate, if he would have still advocated going to war with Iraq. Rumsfeld responded by stating that he was never asked. Imagine that, Bush never consulted the Secretary of Defense regarding the case for war.

Like everything else with this administration, the facts state otherwise. The rewriting of history begins."

Video of interview at link.

FLASHBACK:

Rumsfleld caught lying on "Face the Nation" on March 14, 2004: "I never said Iraq was an immediate threat"
http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/pdf/face_031404.pdf (see page 5 of pdf file for below quote)

Quote :
"Schieffer: Well, let me just ask you this. If they did not have these weapons of mass destruction, though, granted all of that is true, why then did they pose an immediate threat to us, to this country?

Sec. Rumsfeld: Well, you're the--you and a few other critics are the only people I've heard use the phrase `"immediate threat." I didn't. The president didn't. And, uh, it's become kind of folklore that that's--that's what's happened. The president went...

Schieffer: You're saying that nobody in the administration said that.

Sec. Rumsfeld: I--I can't speak for nobody--everybody in the administration and say nobody said that.

Schieffer: Vice president didn't say that? The...

Sec. Rumsfeld: Not--if--if you have any citations, I'd like to see 'em.

Friedman: We have one here. It says "some have argued that the nu"--this is you speaking--"that the nuclear threat from Iraq is not imminent, that Saddam is at least five to seven years away from having nuclear weapons. I would not be so certain."

Sec. Rumsfeld: And--and...

Friedman: It was close to imminent.

Sec. Rumsfeld: Well, I've--I've tried to be precise, and I've tried to be accurate. I'm s--suppose I've...

Friedman: "No terrorist state poses a greater or more immediate threat to the security of our people and the stability of the world and the regime of Saddam Hussein in Iraq."

Sec. Rumsfeld: Mm-hmm. It--my view of--of the situation was that he--he had--we--we believe, the best intelligence that we had and other countries had and that--that we believed and we still do not know--we will know. David Kay said we're about 85 percent there. I don't know if that's the right percentage. But the Iraqi Survey Group--we've got 1,200 people out there looking. It's a country the size of California. He could have hidden his--enough chemical or biol--enough biological weapons in that hole that--that we found Saddam Hussein in to kill tens of thousands of people. So--so it's not as though we have certainty today. "

Bush: "We don't torture." Bush and Cheney: "We didn't manipulate the Iraq intelligence." It seems we can now expect big whoppers like this on practically a bi-weekly basis from at least one of these bozos in the Bush Administration. Their lies, deceptions, and evil policies are coming back to bite them, and all they can do, apparantly, is lie some more to try to cover it all up.

I think we know who it is that is really trying to "rewrite history" here. Remember that when these lying bastards try to condemn their critics for "historical revisionism" and "rewriting history."

Rumsfeld's comments were broadcast all across the nation on ABC's This Week with George Stephanopoulos. All prisonplanet.com has done is provide the video of the interview. But if you, in your great stupidity, think that the the video is not real and credible or does not accurately portray Rumsfeld's comments, then so be it.

Rumsfeld should have bounced when he first turned in his resignation. He and Wolfewitz are going to have a lot of 'splaining to do.

Quote :
"STEPHANOPOULOS: If you had known that no weapons of mass destruction would be found, would you have advocated invasion?

RUMSFELD: I didn’t advocate invasion.

STEPHANOPOULOS: You didn’t?

RUMSFELD: No, I wasn’t asked. If you read all the books and the things —

STEPHANOPOULOS: Why weren’t you asked? That’s very puzzling.

RUMSFELD: Well, I’m sure the president understood what my views were. But as a technical matter, did he ever look and say, “What should we do? Should we go do this or not do that?” This something the president thought through very carefully.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Are you trying to distance yourself from the war with that –

RUMSFELD: Of course not. Of course not. I agreed completely with the decision to go to war and said that a hundred times. And don’t — don’t even suggest that.

STEPHANOPOULOS: I’m just asking.

RUMSFELD: Well, you know better. "
So, he's saying he did agree with the Iraq invasion, but he didn't specifically get asked what his opinion was? Surely that's a lie, but if it isn't, we still have some problems here. The Secretary of Defense wasn't asked about an invasion of Iraq?

here's another video of him getting caught lying

Rumsfeld apparantly thinks that we are complete morons who have 3 minute attention spans. This is someone who actually said it was "folklore" that the Bush Administration had referred to Iraq's supposed WMDs as an "immediate threat."

The Bush administration has been getting away with telling big lies for a while. That gives you the confidence to continue lying. Only sometimes you go too far and you get caught.

sadly, most of us ARE complete morons with 3 minute attention spans. I actually think 3 minutes is an overstatement. Why else do you think they're getting away with this? People are idiots.

well that was the point

although i'm not willing to let slide your insinuation that the Clinton impeachment was, while a partisan witch hunt, and not a particularly well handled one at that, simply a matter of him getting busted for getting some knowledge.
