So when I tried to start my car up today it immediatly died. I tried again andit turned over but then the idle was really bad and bouncy and blue smoke that smelled like gasoline came out the tailpipe . (My brother saw the smoke, so I am taking his word that it was blue).

I'm assuming it's not burning well, so do y'all think I should invest in some new plugs/wires/contact points? what else could it be? timing? I plan on taking it to get it looked at at a dealer/garage and see what they say.

before you replace everything. Check the resistance in the plug wires and spark plug conditions. my 2 cents

fuel injected, 1997 nissan 240sx 4 cylinder

possible gas leak?
I just bought the car, and this is the first time it has done this. The WOMAN who owned the car before me didnt take great care of it mechanically either as I have found out.

ive never seen plugs and wires cause a problem like this suddenly. you'll usually have symptoms of needing a new set. sounds like a bad mass airflow meter to me.

after the bad idle and smoke cleared, did you drive it away like nothing was wrong or are you still having the problem?

after the stuff cleared, i let it run for a little bit b/c i had to move it out of the garage for my parents car...it ran fine. I'm gonna go get some plugs first thing in the morning, I took one out to inspect it and the thing looked like a burnt marshmallow

hell, if it ran fine after it warmed up a little, then it probably just doesn't like the cold.
