Im sorry but thats gay.

Davis sucks at football dont get me wrong, but he is obviously better than Stone.

I don't have a problem with giving Stone the last couple games to get some experience since we'll probably be forced to bench him on his senior day too...

but let Davis play at least a series. Its obvious Stone cant throw for more than 100 yards a game, might as well give a senior a chance to do something

the crowd would've burned both davis and amato in effigy if they'd seen davis coming in. thats because we have a lot of stupid fans.

that is gay

on the possession after the fumble where we scored a field goal, we should have thrown the ball and scored a touchdown

then we would have been safer in the points game

and allowed jay to come in at least play in an environment where the everyone concerned could say "well, if he fucks up...we'lll still be winning"

but nooooooo, after the fumble we ran the ball every down and put the game in Maryland's hands to lose

the choice to do that didn't make me comfortable that we would win the game until Hudson intercepted the ball and saved the game

Chris Moore doesnt count because he wasn't as good as Stone.

He didnt contribute during his career.

I totally understand benching Davis (who in NCAA '06 would be a 67) for Stone (who would be a 59) because Stone is two years younger.

But on senior day let the senior play some... esp. in this case since he's the better of the two options.

im too young, hardly, 4th generation NCSU student, thinkkkkk i know quite alot about fball and basketball of the past...want me to break out old pics and tix guess i will...i know herb got railed but basketball is completely different...many many more stops and dead balls. in Football one screw up can cost the game, and if we play him, every other senior needs to play, there wouldnt be a double standard...the argument makes no sense...Stone wins when he is in

and if i was jay and i took one snap to end my career...one measley pitiful knee...i would feel really bad, glad he didnt elect 2 if he was given the chance.

so therefore

we won

We would have had a better passing game throughout the first half if he had started

but this isn't about him starting...it's about him playing

because we abandoned the pass after Stone's interception, there was no way Jay could have played

all i know is

going 4-1 with Stone as QB is damn impressive.

I dont think any other team in the nation could win 4 games by throwing for 75 yards a game.

Now if Amato ever figures out to recruit 5 OL's and 1 RB instead of 1 OL and 5 RB's we might even be allowed to start scheduling Division I teams...

Who knows we might even start winning two home games every year!!!

He's revitalized the program!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you can when one team is so bad that you turnover the ball 4 times and still win

and another team forgets basic football fundamentals (snapping and passing the ball)

You think people are going to say this is a good team? It's not. But how about we quit bitching about things that are discussed ad-nauseum and actually celebrate the fact that this team came back from 2-4 to become bowl eligible despite having the worst QB situation in the nation aside from the New York Jets.

Is that so hard?

an attainment that is successful; "his success in the marathon was unexpected"; "his new play was a great success"
a state of prosperity or fame; "he is enjoying great success"; "he does not consider wealth synonymous with success"
achiever: a person with a record of successes; "his son would never be the achiever that his father was"; "only winners need apply"; "if you want to be a success you have to dress like a success"

it isn't tradition or expected in football, especially when you have a game of this caliber on the line.

there was no reason to play Davis today b/c he was a senior. How do you explain that to the other seniors that didn't get to play?
"well... jay has played before...so uh...we let him go in"...no it doesn't fly like that

basketball tradition maybe, but not football

WRONG.

we did that for 6 games and got squat.

However, I do agree that it is pretty shitty not to let Davis play at least a series...

we would have never gotten there with jay. The one thing that Stone brings to this team is a downfield passing presence. It might not be much of one, but it is still there. Davis can barely complete fucking screen passes. When Davis was in, all teams had to do was run a 46 defense and put the LB in the flats and we would go NOWHERE. With Stone, the other team is forced to be a little more honest, because when they stop being honest, Stone eventually gets a couple passes off into the depleted secondary and our receivers have a field day. Then, the other team has to be honest, and it re-opens the running game.

I don't think Jay or Marcus should've played today.
Daniel Evans should've played today.

Amato knows Jay and Marcus are both incapable of making a simple pass to an open receiver. Any moron quarterback can hand off the ball to the running back. Why not at least give Daniel Evans a shot? He couldn't possibly be any worse than the other two. He's most likely the future of this team as far as quarterbacks go. I'd love to see him start in the bowl game.

^Very wishful thinking there pal. How many passing yards for the year does he have? We are in trouble because we cannot keep depending on our defense to be so good and not be able to pass the ball.

It's not that Marcus sucks in the first half at all. It's that we're too conservative becuase we don't have much to work with.

1st half we play way too safe... and we usually fall behind.

2nd half, there's nothing to lose so they open it up.... and to tell you the truth Marcus made a few really nice short throws yesterday to drive down the field. We just wont let him throw it unless we get behind for some reason. I mean, I agree with not letting him throw it on our own 25 yard line... but we should have let him throw it more.

Now, I'm not sure if its:

1) Marcus too scared in the first half and the coaches telling him at halftime, "You've got to lead us back into this game" or
2) Coaches play run all first half until we get down, then just let it all hang out and make marcus throw in the 2nd half

It's not that Marcus gets mysteriously better in the 2nd half IMO

it's either

-the play calling in the first half is called to fool the other team for the second half

-Marcus isn't confident throwing the ball until he gets into a rhythm

-Marcus is scared to throw the ball b/c he doesn't want to throw an interception (which he will) and have the crowd turn on him (which they will)

-at halftime Amato threatens Marcus that he'll put Jay in if he doesn't step up

i also think the coaches are afraid of continuing the pass after miscues

after Stone's first floating pass ofer the receiver, we didn't pass the ball for a while

and after the interception we abandoned the pass all together and came really close to almost losing the game

No Dumbass, its called clock management.

We had the ball under 4 minutes left and they only had one Timeout.

We run the ball to get three first downs and the game is over. We only got two and were forced to punt.

passing at all, even short dump passes would have been absolutely brainless in that situation.

gee, what has a better probability of success: stone throwing the ball or the defense holding. durrrr

I think it would have been foolish to mess with the formula which had us winning the last 3 of 4 (and now 4 of 5). You cannot fucking argue with 4-1 as a starter, forget about the fucking stats otherwise.

that's not what i'm talking about, i'm talking about after the sack/fumble and we had the ball on their 30 or 20 yard line

i would have rather had a touchdown than a field goal on our last score so Maryland wouldn't have the possibilty of making an awesome play and scoring on us at the end of the game to win it

then we could have ran the ball all we wanted to
