Iowa played just as bad. Will they fall in the polls too? Some of you guys are awful. We lost on the road to the #15 team by 3. Real Fuckin bad.

YES, JACKASS, IOWA SHOULD FALL. Any body with brain can see that both teams suck at basketball. Iowa is certainly overrated.

Just because they are coasting off some preseason hype ranking doesnt mean they are actually the 15th best team in teh country. Are you even familiar with how rankings work this time of year?

It's not that we lost

It's how we lost

Same shit, different year

Fire Herb? No

Am I sick of losing for the same reasons we havent corrected in 10 years? You betcha!

I'm not giving up on this season by any means. This loss is no big deal. However, they've shown me nothing that makes me think we've fixed our problems from last season, the season before, the season before that, etc.

Exactly, we were the road team and the underdog. They were suppossed to win.

^^Why are you a smartass and think you know everything about every fucking sport? Yes rankings mean little, but come on that was a good Iowa team in the home arena with the crowd pumped. Both teams were trying to hard to win b/c they knew it was on national television and possibly their conference depended on them.

But but but....

80% of the "major conference" teams in the nation could have beaten Iowa tonight. They looked awful (That may be partially credited to our D).

They threw so many balls away I lost count... wide open right through their fingers. With the way they played, a lot of other teams would have blown them out of the water

Like I said, I'm not screaming "The Sky is falling", but we're definetely not that good of a team right now... especially offensively

Why do people think the Iowa game was so bad?

Okay, so the score was low. SO WHAT?

That was an incredible defensive game.

no it wasn't, it was an incredibly bad offensive game. most of those turnovers by both teams were unforced.

Yes and no. There were some stupid turnovers on both sides.

But there were also "unforced" turnovers that resulted from easy outlets being blocked off.

He works the freshmen in slowly until they are ready. Like Cedric last year, at the first of the year he hardly played at all. He looks good now. Give them time.

Depends on the player. Ced really needed that time to develop. Brack and Grant got more minutes in November/December last year and then somewhat less during ACC play...

With the current group, it's not that they don't have the skills, but they need to calm down and realize when they don't have a shot. You're not the star of your high-school team anymore--everyone else on the court is capable.

Herb knows what he is doing. I didnt expect the frosh to play at Iowa. First big time game on the road in a hostile crowd. It was close throughout so we needed our best and experienced in. By the time ACC comes around, we might see a 10 man rotation with the freshmen playing around 10 minutes each. Sure would help come March if we could do that.

Costner's done it, so has Fells.

I can't think of a game offhand when McCauley has, but he also has Ced, Brack, and Ev ahead of him in the lineup...

NC State above UNC in ESPN/USA Today Poll (#23 vs. #24)

UNC above NC State in AP poll (#23 vs. #25)

Talk about a bid for power, haha, it should be a pretty good matchup this year!

Yeah, rankings don't really indicate strength right now. Good for publicity, though, which is good for the program.

And yes, the State-UNC games should be a good matchup this year. They'll test us with the transition game, we'll test them defensively.

^BINGO

UNC deserves a lot of credit for playing like that on a bunch of freshman... but so far they have not proven much in the half court.

And so far this season, State has forced the opponents to play in the half court

With the way UNC is runnin, we are going to need a deeper rotation or we wil lose.

^^^Nah. As unrealistic as it is, I always hold out hope for an undefeated season. The first loss always hurts, but I get over it. I also can't help but think about what might have been. What if Josh Powell had stayed and Bethel didn't get hurt last season, etc.

Why? We were ranked way before they were, plus they havent really beaten anyone yet either. That KY win is looking shittier and shittier as the season goes on. There's also no reason we shouldnt be ranked ahead of UNC right now...thats why we're ahead of them in this poll and we'll be one or two spots behind them in the AP.

umm

did you not see the KY/Louisville game?

regardless, we lost to a ranked team on the road, they beat a ranked team on the road.

we both beat out cupcakes.

why should we have been ranked higher?

look at those wins and tell me if I should be impressed with louisville's team.

Plus its a rivalry game. Good win, but we dont know if Louisville is that strong yet.

Its six of one, half dozen the other...both of us have one loss to a ranked team, but we also have a conference win. Neither one of us are going to justify it either way.

they went to kentucky and won.

we went to iowa and lost.

Iowa then went to lose to middle school girls.

kentucky then went to destroy the #4 team in the country.

now before you say you dont think louisville should have been ranked that high, remember you just used pre-season ranking as a reason we should be ranked ahead of UNC.

cant use them not playing a conference game against them. I think we're just as good as they are and will probably split with them, but by what each team has done this year i would put them ahead of us for now

You're doing the same thing with the rankings with the "score by comparison" Iowa lost to some girls thing after we lost to them. Plus I didnt say Louisville shouldnt have been ranked that high, I just said we dont know if they're that good yet.

Our wins are more impressive than UNC's wins with the exception of Kentucky. They almost lost to Gardner Webb for gods sake. The Kentucky game and the Iowa games are one of many in a season, and you cant say that a young inexperienced UNC team should be ranked higher than us soley because they beat Kentucky, who has some bad losses under their belt already.

But I already said that its six of one, half dozen the other....or did you not read that.

i did read it. I agree with your point about rankings.

I think they should be ranked ahead of us because they played Illinois extremely close and they went into kentucky and won(not easy not matter how up or down UK is) in spite of their inexperience.

I dont want to sound like a carolina fan, and I do think ultimately we are a better team. but based on performances this year I would rank them slightly ahead of us.

their game against SC didnt help though, and ours against UM did.

Yeah I wasnt trying to start an arugment, but I just think the way voters are, they should give us some credit for having more experience.

my only problem with it is I think the fact that they're UNC gets them extra points from the voters, regardless of who they beat or who else shold be ranked...And I hate UNC and think I have a somewhat valid point about our team. Hopefully though they're not voting based on UNC vs. NC State

We are still 21 in the AP poll but UNC moves up 2 spots to 17 after their stellar victory against Santa Clara. I swear i hate the sports writers, these rankings make no sense.
