Okay, so the time has come to get new Boots & Bindings to go with my new board. My old bindings were Switch step-ins. They were great to learn on, but now I'm looking to get some bindings that offer better response and performance. However, I really like the convenience of step-ins. Here's the question: Do some of the new Flow bindings offer the response I'm looking for (ie Flow "Pro 11") or should I just bite it and go with some strap-ins like the Burton Cartels?

I'd love any opinions from people that have tried both regular strap-ins as well as Flow bindings. Thanks.

step ins suck, snow gets clogged in the boot and you have to knock that shit out. Strap ons also offer more response

The step-ins I had very rarely clogged with snow, if so, all that was necessary was a light kick. They were switch clickers if that helps. The reason why I listed Flows were because they're not your typical step-ins, thought that might help.

As for a board, it's a 2006 Burton Baron ES.

I would go for strap-ins. You are not going to get responsiveness out of any step-in binding that will rival your cartels. If you aren't deadset on getting those, I would look at ride's SPi's for a little more response for roughly the same price.

I ride flows and I love them! You can get in them much quicker than straps, and I still get just as good performance

The step-ins are the least responsive

The flows are really nice that you can step-in them and they do provide much better response than step-ins. They are nice for here on the east coast where you are in and out of your board every thirty seconds.

The strap-ins are pretty much the best for performance, look at what all the pros ride. They need the best they can get (sponsers aside)

Yeah, right now I think I'm leaning towards some Burton P1s. I don't know, there's a part of me that really wants the ease of the Flows, but there's a part of me that would feel like I was missing out on some performance. Plus, it's not like it's time consuming to get into the P1s with their quick release buckles and levers...
