Does anyone out there have, or know someone who has a chrysler sebring convertible that has flooding problems? My car has about a half of inch of water on the floor on the drivers side only. I think I've figured out what to do about it. I'm just trying to get people together for a possible complaint. 11/29/2005 9:11:04 PM |

ive seen a handful of miatas do that, I just put them up on the lift and literally tap the underbody seams with a BFH, and the water drains out. 11/29/2005 9:23:17 PM |

i used to get a puddle in the spare tire well in the probe, it was the seal for the hatch. and now the e30 has a small rust spot under the corner of the passenger floorboard and will soak up some water after extended driving in wet weather.
does your car have a puddle after sitting or does it only really happen after driving? im assuming it was just there after sitting in the rain? 11/29/2005 9:34:17 PM |

i wouldn't know, i just pulled a plug in the well so the water would drain
[Edited on November 29, 2005 at 9:52 PM. Reason : i think i priced the seal and it wasnt expensive, just more work than it was worth]11/29/2005 9:52:20 PM |

dude there are already drain holes there, but they are plugged, because the right way to correct the problem is to actually fix the problem. 11/29/2005 10:19:27 PM |

no, it's not the top that's leaking. it's a drain problem. When I make turns, or go up hills, I can hear a bit of splashing going on around the rear drivers side tire. I think it's a problem with the holes that drain under the car being clogged or something. It seems to be a common defect in Sebring models, and I think that Chrysler should pay for it. Someone told me that if you can assemble 500 people, you have grounds to sue. btw, mine is a '99. 11/29/2005 10:45:11 PM |

check out the tsb's on it, more than likely if it is a common problem, chrysler has a fix for it, they dont always nor are they required to recall vehicles for non safety problems, but they do send out technical service bulltins to the dealers to save their mechanics time in identifying and correcting the problem, so they an still charge you out the wazoo and have a higher profit margin 11/29/2005 11:49:12 PM |

I used to get water sloshing around in the doors of my '79 Malibu after heavy rain. Then I discovered that the drainholes were clogged with debris and rust. An icepick, hammer, and screwdriver later, the drains flowed once again. 11/29/2005 11:53:26 PM |

still doesnt address the fact that that much water shouldnt be getting in there in the first place. a little water on the floorboard of my 66 stang turned into 2 weeks of cuttting and welding new sheetmetal in the cowl, along with rocker panels, floorboards, rear quarters, and front inner fenders. looked good when i bought it, but it took less than a year for cancer pinholes to rear their ugly head. pissed me off, it was solid all over besides a few problem spots i ignored while i was building up the drivetrain, and it went to hell in a handbasket quick, it was worth it in the end though, god i miss that car, all those hundreds of hours of my life gone now.

thanks for the info. we used a screw driver to open up the drain holes a little more. you wouldn't believe the amount of water that came out!!! this seems to be a common occurance in sebrings. i wish they'd pay for the damage. i hope this will solve the flooding...i'm so tired of getting my feet wet. 11/30/2005 3:40:26 PM |

you still need to pull up the carpet and let the padding dry, or it will mildew and rot 11/30/2005 4:57:05 PM |
