When all of a sudden I find out my advisor hasn't mailed out letters of reccomendation to any of the schools yet, or even e-mailed out the electronic ones. Things he agreed to do by Nov 25th (I gave him an early date because its not actually due until the end of Nov 30th and I wanted it done in time... which at this point has passed).

Also UNC has lost parts of information but not other parts, out of a packet I submitted all in one envelope.

And Princeton has, after I paid them all the fines for an application, and paid to send a transcript there, lost my entire account!

Are grad admission bureaucracies typically very considerate of failures on their part & of recommenders since those are things you can’t control? Or will they be less likely to accept me since they don’t have all the information they requested?

Another little rant...

Teacher Evaluation Forms

I seriously wanted to write some things about one of my professors, but he stayed in the room the whole time, hovered over people, and went to the envelope to turn them in at and watched each one being put in.

I didn't have the balls to write bad stuff about him that he would have read before deciding my grade which has a subjective element to it.

Did you do them all on paper or online?

I went for the online for the control issues.

From what I've read, they consider recommenders to be within your control. Go talk to your advisor *first thing tomorrow* and get on him to make that a priority. I have four apps due today...one of my three recommenders has them all done, one has all but one done (I think she simply skipped it on accident), and one has done none. Guess who is getting an email, a phone call, and a personal visit in the AM?

As to people losing stuff...I dunno, I'm not that deep into this joyous process yet.

i did online for most everything that was acceptable online...

i already sent my prof an e-mail, i'd drop by his office tomorrow, but one of my professors decide to have a final tomorrow... and since I already have 5 classes tomorrow, I'll be to busy to make extra trips to take care of the letter of rec just yet.

I didn't think that was allowed. You might want to complain to the department.

It isn't allowed. The teacher is supposed to leave the room and a student is supposed to collect the evaluations and submit them to the department main office.

the website it gave me for checking on my letters of reccomendation says that my account name is not an account there... also the online application log in doesn't recognize my name any more either.

Are you sure you're putting in the right username? I have applications on Embark, Apply Yourself, and several in-house deals right now and have mixed a few of them up. If not, it's probably not Princeton's fault, if they use an outside provider, and I would contact their technical support. I know the Apply Yourself schools have a link right at the top. Good luck.

Dude, do you really think you'd enjoy Princeton anyway?
I just don't know if I could deal with the snob-factor; but good luck getting all of this stuff together again. It sounds like you've been screwed in all of this, but I would think that if you talked to the right person (since your advisor obviously isn't competent, maybe the undergraduate coordinator for your department?) you could get help with straightening this all out.
I would think that the grad school admissions would be understanding of these things -- good luck

after several phone calls, e-mails, and dropping by offices things are starting to come together again.

princeton would be alright, they cant be too high and mighty being that they are in NJ. I doubt I could get in but I hope I have a shot since one my reccomenders is a princeton alum who has had me for several classes, & since I got an undergraduate research grant in philosophy, and your standard plethora of activity & leadership in clubs, groups, and fraternity stuff.
