just wanted to post this for those that are already falling off the herb bandwagon after one loss. I was looking around on the Duke message boards to see what they were saying about our game and this is what two separate Duke fans posted:

"State had plenty of good looks in the final minute but shots just wouldn't fall for them tonight. Iowa's physical style turned the game into an ugly display of offensive ineptitude. I still think the Pack will be in the Top 5 of the ACC. Cedric Simmons has improved immensely and provides a legit low post presence on both ends of the court... "

"State is a solid team, their threes just weren't falling tonight."

so if Duke fans still think we are going to be a good team and have a successful season, maybe all of us could for more than 6 games

Why is it that Duke fans tend to give us the most respect out of the area schools?

There's that aspect, that maybe they don't consider us a threat (particularly this year, when we're going to Cameron).

But for some reason, the positive comments I hear about State teams in general tend to come from Duke fans. I guess we just don't really have a rivalry--it's not like I really cared that much about Duke when I was at State, although it's always big to go up against a ranked team.

I grew up a UNC fan because my parents both went there. Then I went to State, and grew this hatred for UNC.

I finally realized a few months ago that I don't hate the school, or the basketball team...I just really fucking hate their fans.

same here (not the growing up UNC fan part, i have always hated them) but it is more the fans than anything else. A guy that goes to my church that is a huge UNC fan is the most annoying person on earth. He rubs it in w/ no mercy when his team wins, but when his team loses he always has some stupid excuse and if you disagree w/ him he goes insane.

^^good point, although I dislike their school and students as well

But its stupid to care what other fans think about our team. Remembe when we ALMOST beat VT in football this season? Their fans were like

"wow you guys have an awesome team and probably should have won that game...see you in jacksonville"

that turned out well didnt it?

4 NCAA bids in a row, coach of the year, ACC POY, sweet sixteen, continuous improvement in recruiting.

I'll gladly forgive the 5 years of shittiness that preceded the last 4 years as long as the trend continues.

but you feel free to scope out the inside of your anus and let me know if you find anything.

I posted on another thread about being here for the tail end of V's time here. I was also here for a couple of the Les Robinson years (part time student). That was a dark, dark time to be in Raleigh. Winning anything at this point is gravy after sitting through some of those games.

"HERB HAS SUCKED FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS (or however many) HE HAS BEEN HERE "

If you take away the first few years he was here b/c those were not his fault (he was left w/ nothing) then his record over the past 5 years (excluding roy b/c he has only been at unc 2) is i think 3rd or 4th best in the conference

i don't consider that sucking.

awesome chart. that shows that herb has basically got the program up to valvano levels as far as wins in the acc.

that is very commendable considering that valvano inherited a program doing well and sendek inheritied a program in the dumpster
